Backstory: Derek has been a Massachusetts resident his whole life. His interest in gaming started at an early age, beginning mostly with board games around the age of five or six. He has always been a huge fan of Star Wars and places the Empire Strikes Back dangerously close to the number one spot on his top ten favorite movies list. He was introduced to role-playing games at the age of ten, when a friend taught him how to play Dungeons & Dragons, and he has been a full-fledged gamer ever since. The World of Greyhawk has always been his favorite D&D campaign setting, and he has DM'd a campaign that started in 1983 and is still going to this day.

Prior to opening Battleground Games & Hobbies, Derek was a web developer and retouching specialist for a company in Boston called Spire. He enjoys traveling, and tries to go somewhere he's never been at least once every year.

Derek also plays D&D in a semi-weekly game and has been painting his 1500 point Necron army for six years.
