Oh! Thanks, Jess. Time to start hounding Derek about having some sort of presence at the con.

Oh! Thanks, Jess. Time to start hounding Derek about having some sort of presence at the con.
I ordered passes for Jess and I last night. It's a great con to have a presence at, the tabletop section was really popular last year (and at PAX Prime as well), plus a lot of new players who want to check out stuff besides video games. At both East and Prime this year, there were a ton of people who were new to D&D and excited to check it out. I know WotC's "Learn to Play" games had huge lines at PAX East last year, and at Prime, they were packed out as well. Also, the board game borrowing section was really popular and I know people were scrambling to pick up the popular ones from the few vendors that were there last time.
It's the only con I've been to where I've been super excited to go back again.

What are the odds of you guys moving a WoW night down to Plainville sometime in October? If it's too much trouble maybe I'll swing by Abington some Thursday night, chat, and raid with you guys.
I'd really like to talk to you and Jess about PAX.
-
In all honesty the likelyhood of me driving from Weymouth to Plainville after getting home from work is pretty low as much as I miss you :)
It would be about 40 minutes with no traffic, I have no idea where the other peeps live relative to the Plainville store.
Hell I bought unpainted minis for the first time and we got more WoW cards... people buy just to buy.
-
Yeah, it's a tough haul for a work night.
We were thinking of checking out the Plainville store though since it looks pretty cool. We'd probably check it out on a weekend of something. I think Jess mentioned that going to the grand opening weekend.
-
Very cool. I hope to see you then if not sooner.
-
...alright i just got my official PAX East company packet... budget will not allow me to be there in a official capacity for Imperium Star Games, But i should be there unofficially and maybe even hang out swag
-
I sent you a PM, Adam.
-
@Chase, I know it isn't the same as getting to chat with the others about PAX but I'm happy to run a WoW Raid sometime. Kurt had me run Molten Core last time we played in Abington (I think during PAX West) and I had fun...don't know how well I did but it was enjoyable.

I e-mailed the guy mentioned on the link you supplied and requested some information. So far, I haven't heard back from him yet.

D i sent chase the info they sent me

Cool! Thank you!

Is PAX East in the same location as last year (Back Bay)? I was having lunch with Garet Jax, and we saw all these people dressed like Anime characters. I will definately swing by on my lunch, or just take a vacation day.

They moved to the boston convention & exhibition center this year, last years was too small.

DOH! Damn my Back Bay location!! I may need the day off then to get my nerd on.

Chase,
I might be able to talk my wife into letting me out of the house 1 or two extra times to run a raid down in Plainville. Things are just going to be getting tighter the closer we get to the holidays and the impending arrival of my spawn. I wish I could split my time between both stores but that would require me to drop out of the Dark Sun campaign Todd is running....I just don't see that happening any time soon.

-
Nah man, no need to take extra time to run a raid down here. I definitely wouldn't want to see you drop from Todd's game to come down.
If you're interested in possibly running a demo or two of the WoW TCG at the Grand Opening that would be cool.
-
Bah! Unfortunately my Electrician father in law is coming to help work on the house so I am out for most of the day on the 16th.

Me and my friend griffin are planning on going to PAX. Maybe i'll see some of you there :P

I heard a rumor Pax is going to be on the same day as Anime Boston and there is a combo pass you can get to get into both. With this rumor I heard they will have shuttle service to move the nerds to and from the two cons.

Stuff removed.

im assuming this is the spam bot people have been complaining about?

Well, the two cons are the same weekend. That isn't a rumor, that is a fact.
A combo pass, or shuttle service are just rumors for now. Robert Khoo from Penny Arcade said that they'll try and work with Anime Boston to help them in anyway possible, including giving them free booth space to sell passes from Anime Boston at PAX, and trying to coordinate shuttle service. As of now, I haven't seen anything worked out between the cons, other than they want to make it work.
It's also Easter Weekend next year.
Here is the thread from the PA boards where Khoo jumps in and talks about the date selection and wanting to work with Anime Boston.

Todd, you're awesome.
-
Good information to know. Sounds like ots going to be called Nerdfest 2012 instead of Easter in Boston next year.
-
Anime Boston won best Nerd Gathering Last Year the Nerdiness can only go up at this rate.
-
I think Boston needs to be dubbed Nerd Capital at this point.
-
It's always been nerd capital, homie. We've got Harvard, MIT, all sorts of indie music and video games, etc. There's a reason PAX came to Boston. :)
-
always thought it was because of the NECCO factory
