WIP Stormwolf dwarf proxy
« on: October 15, 2014, 01:49:46 PM »
Hello everyone.  SO I have been inspired again to share what I have been working on.  In efforts to keep with my dwarven SW theme I have decided to create a stormwolf for my army.  Now my dwarves are very beer centric and very steampunkish so here it is my vision of a dwarven stormwolf inspired by the Fenrisian Long boats.  The overall dimensions and placing of weapons is almost identical to a actual Stormwolf.

First we start with a long boat.

Then we cut in half to give proper length and size

Add in support structure for hull

Then we build the first half of the ship complete with engraved moldings

Initial construction of keg engine and wings

Addition of Helfrost Canon and forward mini wings

Added bits to wings to make them more dynamic and casing around helfrost canon.  Also added dwarf canon as melta proxy

Added dwarven drummer, second canon and accents to back wings

Changed location of drummer as original location didnt make sense

Full redesign of Keg engine, original design wasnt high enough to mount lascanon.

Build exhaust system under the keg engine

Added lascanon proxy to side of keg engine and added dwarven shields to the hull.

Added wiring to keg engine and helfrost canon

Wiring for exhaust

Final pic for this post added more wiring to keg engine as well as exhaust on sides and added flight stand

Still need to add a captain, shipwheel and i'm debating adding the blimp to top it all off.  Thoughts or feedback are most welcome.

Pretty sexy troy, only thing I'm afraid of with the blimp is it would take up too much room on the display board but then again I don't know what mountain 2.0 looks like.

Since you can't put the troop door where it's supposed to be because of the engines maybe a bomb bay door in the bottom or dwarves fast roping off the sides?

I think the fast roping dwarves would look amazing.  This is going to be a pretty awesome addition to the dwarves.

Good idea for sure.  Since everything is measured from the base anyway I didnt think it would be needed.  But the fast dropping dwarves on ropes sounds amazing!

FYI on a stormwolf the door is in the front.

Oh you're right I'm thinking stormfang. I saw a stormraven once with jetpack troops coming out of it. If you can pull off fast roping dwarves it would be pretty awesome

It still needs like 80the mote cats to be a proper flying Dwarf Fortress.
Should the miserable Grot crews survive for long they will soon become deafened and have to resort to a rudimentary system of sign language. This is rarely successful as there are only so many signs a Grot can carry around with him.
