Title: Bad news... again... (GW Prices)
Post by: Chase on May 13, 2010, 12:24:24 AM
So I just got an email from GW about their "annual price adjustment."

Anyhow, I really dislike having to break bad news to people, but they will be increasing prices on a lot of stuff again on May 31st, 2010.  I figure it's better to get the word out now before it comes as a shock to people.

Fortunately, paint is not on the list this time around.

Again, just giving the heads up.  Don't shoot the messenger.

Does this mean the books are going to have crap bindings again. Do you know how much of an increase this will be.

I don't think the price increase will change the quality of their book bindings.

The price change is different from model to model.  It ranges from $0.00 to... $7.75 I think.  Not every model has been changed.  All of the newer models should maintain their current price.  It seems like many books have increased.  All of the models that we call "Bitz" have increased.  (These are items we can not normally stock)

If anyone has a serious question about a particular model you can PM or email me.  Please don't ask for the sake of asking though.

in other words, EVERYONE BUY UP NOW!!! or well just start looting  ::)

will this effect orders now or only after the 31st, ie if someone came down around the 29th would the price increase?

As models on the shelf are replaced their prices will be updated.

For instance, Tactical Marines are going up in price.  Once we sell the current boxes and get the replacement Tactical Marines in stock (weekly) their price will increase.  Another example is the random Dark Elf model that may sit on the shelf for a year.  This model will not change in price until we restock it.

After glancing at the spreadsheet, it didn't look like anything went up 25%.  The only model I noticed that went up by $7.00+ was one of the Eldar tanks.

If anyone can set me up with a way to link to a spreadsheet directly I'll post the entire product listing and the price changes.

Don't know that it has anything to do with the economy.

Remember that old Duncan Donut line of commercials?  "Time to make the donuts."  Supposedly, it was always time to make the donuts.

Time to raise the prices!

Those are correct.

I've got a list of everything but pasting the excel stuff here doesn't format correctly.  If anyone has any sort of solution to this, or can "host" the excel file somewhere so we can link to it I'll be more than happy to give you guys all the info.

Also, every model that we have to get through "bitz" order (what GW calls "direct") has gone up in price.

It's crazy, I know.  That's the price of the 3rd edition rulebook, which was huge.

Paper costs, production costs, etc. have all been going up at a rapid rate over the past few years.

I was having a conversation with my younger brother the other day about the price of his college text books.  I understand what a ridiculous scam the college book market is to begin with, but he just shelled out 130 bucks for a statistics book last week.  That's pretty crazy to me.

Anyways, as I'm sure you can all imagine we sell a lot of books at Battleground.  I can say for sure that MSRP on books have been going up steadily over the past several years.  Other companies increase prices on their core rule books a couple times a year.  Sadly, GW increasing Codex prices does not come as a surprise.

130 bucks for a college statistic book? Holy hell!!!
Sadly I was not suprised over the price increase. It just sucks, plan and simple.

Is it just me or are these GW's top seller's?

-on a side note I still don't understand why they make a hammerhead and a skyray boxset. the skyray has all the parts to make a hammerhead and they are the same price.

Maybe they're just too lazy to do so or for some reason haven't realize it.

Big file.  I broke it into four segments so my web editor could digest it.  Sorry I couldn't do better, but there it is.

I added a link to a PDF file version.  On a dial up line, it will take a good while to load, but it is all in one file and has better formatting.
