Title: Black templars
Post by: skavengear on July 21, 2010, 08:40:35 PM
Does anyone know if they emperors champion is unique? if he is not, how many of him can i take since it says he does not count toward your hq choices (like a honour guard) but does that mean id have to buy another hq choice even if i had 100 of him?

can a fellow crusader clarify this?

It says in the codex that you have to have 1 in an army of x amount of points. He's the guy who gives the army the vows so it'd be kinda broken (and make no sense) to have more than one vow in an army....

sad panda... the new FAQ states that there can only be ONE champion in the army, but he can count as your 1 hq choice even if he is compulsory. that would have been awesome though, fielding all 4 vows with 4 models with a 2+ armor 4+ invul and a s6 powersword, especially being that the most expensive he can be is 140 points.

just on a side note, what edition is the current templars codex? was it made in 3rd or 4th?

Really?  Because the third edition Black Templars were an appendex list of the 3rd ed. Space Marine codex?

thats pretty surprising, seeing it still holds viable in 5th edition without any regrettable short comings (beyond the useless special characters). i mean i was pretty wowed by the fact i can give everything in my army either a 6+ invul, favored enemy, a psychic hood ability and a free move before scout movements, or +1s -1i. not to mention the terminators can have both heavy weapons in a single 5 man squad and a dreadnought with tank hunter. im not saying those things are broken but they definitly still hold ground with the newest armies  :D

personally i think dark eldar deserve a tune up since theyve been in the running since 2nd ed. i know people say the necrons do, but theyre not bad here, since we take out the phase out rule. and i think the grey knights were awesome the way they were, being able to show up in any space marine army or call guard and marine units into theirs is a really nice thing why ruin that and force out a pure grey knight codex?

unfortunately by the looks of things, daemons are the ones getting a new codex, with all the new plastic stuff appearing. it makes since, grey knights dissapear, daemons rise to power again, then new grey knights to put them back in their place

Well, Dark Eldar are a 3rd ed codex.  If they hadn't been updated since 2nd there's no way you'd be able to use them.  ;D  We take out the phase out rule for some things, but in most we leave it in.  Necrons actually seem quite powerful to me without that rule.

If there's one thing GW likes, it's things that make them money.  And if Daemons are in high demand right now, they're gonna put out a new Codex.  But new DE models have been shown for a while now, so I'm pretty sure they're not that far behind.

The only time a BG event will get rid of the Necron phasing out rule is in doubles tournaments.

if you look on the 40k main page it says new daemons, daemons are coming, etc, etc... plus with their almost broken power in fantasy, id guess people will buy. but i just hope to god they bring back grey knights like they were so my blood angels and templars can take them  ;D

I heard rumor that this summer is going to show the Codex Inquisition. They are making new models for the already existing Deamons codex to fight new Inquisition stuff thats my thought.

It's going to be gone.  Normally grain of salt and all that but considering how GW has been on this warpath of simplification, GKs will be stand alone.

Unless you think they will make "summoned inquisition" units?

before guard armies and space marine armies could use up up to one of each force slot for a daemonhunters unit (of course that doesnt mean BA can take a leman russ battle tank or something, but its not broken to have an hq, terminators, and a squad of knights as the inquisitionalportion of a force. even fluffwise it makes sense. the flesh tearers could be under an investigation by the inquisition and are being watched closely at their tactics and capabilities in combat or something. point is fnp and furious charge on grey knights could be sooooo sweet
