Ok so I have an IG army now consisting of 90 troopers, 12 heavy Weapon Teams, 4 Valks, 3 leman russes, 2 chimeras, 2 basilisks, 1 hellhound, 6 ogryns. Anyone know what kind of case I should get to transport these bad boys?
Sabol army transport bags, GW suit case, Battlefoam etc...
Any help will be awesome.

Battlefoam offers the most models/sq inch.
-
I heard a rumor that BG is about to start carrying battlefoam.
Personally, I have a few GW hard cases which are really nice for basic troopers but terrible for anything more.
-
Personally I tend to use my GW cases for my troops, and then whatever for vehicles. This works great going to and from the store in the car. So if that's the extent of it, stop right there.
Otherwise.
If I was taking my IG Army else where I'd be seriously considering battlefoam.
I've tried Sabol and it's ok. Certainly more flexible than the GW hard cases.
From what I've seen of BF it's not cheap, but works well.
Tough choice, but if you have the coin BF is the way I would go.

Most of my stuff is in Sabol Transports
-
orks: cardboard boxes
space marines: cardboard boxes inside a big toolbox

We are likely to put in our first order with Battlefoam this week. If you have any requests for stuff shoot me an email and I'll see what I can do.

If you want to go on the cheap. Walmart sells pistol case's for $10 - $20 (if you can find them). Its the egg crate foam. Cutting the foam up is great for vehicle's I fit 10 chimera's in one. There not bad for infantry, not as good as the name brands but it will hold them.
I use all 3 case's. I use GW's for infantry, walmart special for tanks and unpainted or rarely used model's, and sabol/battlefoam for travelling.
-
I'm a fan of the Sabol cases, myself. As most of you know, I travel a lot, and like Jeff, I use them when traveling, since they make them very convenient for it. Many of them in fact come with foam trays inside them, and most stores will also allow you to mix and match the trays to the sizes you need. (Chase and Derek are usually pretty cool with this as well).
Hope that helps!

Question: What's the difference between "Battlefoam" and the foam trays that BG is currently carrying? I wasn't aware if there was a difference.

Different companies. Sabol and Battlefoam. From what I've heard, Battlefoam is more expensive/the same price. However, Battlefoam has a specialty service where they make custom cut foam for models. Expensive, but worth it for your top class paint job that you spent a year on.
-
if you want cheap protection, buy a really big model (valk, land raider, etc) and then just buy a bunch of charmin ultra 3x ply and wrap moodels up in it or put it in layers at the bottom. it almost never fails and youve paid 2-4 bucks (since i assume you didnt buy a $63 model just for the box). only problem then is beagles, which will destroy any means of defense you have :P

Yeah, Battlefoam has a solid range of pre-cut foam designed to fit most "normal" armies. They are typically more expensive than the pluck foam we sell currently but they also offer a better fit.
Their cases seem really nice and the company seems to be growing in popularity very quickly.
Here's a look at some of their foam: http://battlefoam.com/catalog.php?category=58

not seeing one for a thunder hawk im dissapointed
-
you think forgeworld would give complementary foam for their products, being that they cost so much
-
Battlefoam has one for the T hawk and for Reaver titans and more... they do some NICE work... just SOOO expensive.
-
On the plus side if BG becomes a BattleFoam dealer, I would think we can get the pads/spacers with the BG logo on it.

This needs to be looked into.

I very much agree!

Battlefoam has to get my vote.
I am so happy that I got my bag from them.

Thanks for all the opinions. I had to go with Sabol Army Transports because of price. I ended up with a Division Case, and All the foam needed for 85% of the models I am bringing. I will have to pack my Valks myself and transport them in a backback (my carry on) But next time when money flows like water I will get some Battle Foam for these guys.

Before moving here I actually picked up a Battlefoam bag and while they are expensive in comparison to the GW and Sabol bags they are just worth it to protect your models. If you are going to get a real bag of some sort save up the cash and go for it. I myself am still working on getting some more foam for the bag I have so I will have enough for all each army I have.
