if any one is kind enough to sell for store credit some spikes (about 4-5 just spikes and one or 2 with skulls through them) from chaos products and possibly some flame bits if there are any. im trying to create a model/stat line for the angels of oblivion so far i have:
an exemplar bastion model for the base
- a plastic crusaders mace
both above are warmachine stuff
-a death company member's bolt pistol for the left hand
-beastman bestigor herd horns
-will be putting spikes on the left shoulder
stats i have not really decided, since i want them and the point cost to be determined as fair but heres my ideas for special rules: see next post
-
ws bs s front side rear w i a ld sv
7 5 6 13 12 10 5 - 5 10 2+(4+)
wargear: blood mace, armor of oblivion, bolt pistol, mantle of the fell king
blood mace - treated as a mastercrafted power weapon or a thunderhammer (chosen at the start of each assault phase)
armor of oblivion - this special terminator armor is so thick, it not only grants the normal protection from mortal wounds but also has the same density of a dreadnought's armor. it uses a vehicles armor values instead of his normal toughness value
mantle of the fell king - this was given to him as a reward for his defense against a powerful daemon of tzeentch during the horus heresy. it grants a 4+ invulnerable save as well as a psychic hood (this does not give him any psychic powers ever for any reason)
special rules: feel no pain; faster than the blood flowing within; none can stay my wrath; always on guard, always ready;
faster than the blood flowing within - Mira is known to be able to move at blinding speed in combat. he has fleet of foot and a 12" charge
always on guard always ready - mira never lets his guard down, and as a result is always able to best his foe in combat. he has counter attack and his initiative value is equal to the highest model's in base to base with him plus one (ie if a captain is i5 he is i6) this includes modified initiative values (such as furious charge)
thoughts?

First of all, how many points is he worth?
Secondly, I think you need to establish whether he's a Vehicle, a Walker, or an Infantry unit. Otherwise, you're basically making up your own core rules for a model completely unique of it's own type, which is fine, but you'll need to establish the parameters on how it's treated when in combat, or shot at, etc. For example, if he's hit by a penetrating hit, do you roll on the Vehicle Damage chart, or does he take a wound? How would Glancing Hits affect him? And would Ordnance weapons have their Ordnance effect on him? But I think most importantly, you need to establish what kind of unit he is first.
That, and determine how many points he should be worth.

I don't know of any flame bits to be honest. I just use greenstuff. Less of a hassle, in my opinion.
I do have some lego fire though. ::)

@ben, simple enough a pen is an invulnerable save if he fails he takes a wound, glances are armor saves. he follows same rules as other hq choices that do not have independant character (infantry with a slight dab of monstrous creatures rules) like mephiston. so melta would work (since that determines a armor pen), ap 1 and 2 will basically make a glance a pen, and ordinance im not sure... my guesses say yes it would be like a vehicle.
if i did not explain before he is an apocalypse unit for the megabattle hopefully, i was thinking of 1000 points and making him my super heavy choice ;D
obviously he would never be seen in a normal game.
@ed, i see that face palming! i was going to add more stuff too, but then i felt mercy :P
@mattrias, i thought so... but mainly i want spikes anyways
-
So he's basically an Infantry unit, without the IC rule. Ok, fair enough.
And by definition, I don't think he'd actually be considered a Super Heavy persay, but just probably an Apoc-Only unit, like Terminus Ultra.
-
i dont really like the fact that he has armor values AND has wounds....
-
@ben, well "superheavy"/super apocalypse unit. but is the stats and point values acceptable enough as posted? because i want to put alot of effort (for once) into painting this model so all can see the angels of oblivion's chapter master (though he sorta deserves primarch status)
@bryan, he is an apoc unit, and costs as much as 4 land raiders, i always thought itd be cool for a vehicle/walker to have wounds, to show that even the most decisive blow isnt enough to totally shatter his armor.
@all, he is supposed to be a beast, thats the point. if there can be the aqua marines (which i LOVE the models for!) and they got their own special models/units, why cant i make something silly.
sad part is i want to make him even worse so i can make him 2000 (ie add my army plus one monster for megabattle) otherwise i have to resort to fielding my imperator titan, which looks like crap (the good one weighs too much to put on bg's nice tables, i wouldnt want to be responsible for them breaking under a 123 lb. super heavy)
also, this is still a thread looking for spike bits :D

Dave,
Like ben said you have to decide if your talking about a character or a vehicle. you should not give an armor value to a infantry sized model. Its logistical nightmare come combat time, because but not limited too: will melta-bombs work on him? What about force weapons which a majority of the time go off base strength? They technically can not work because they could never glance an AV 13.
This is just a bad idea. Lose the Armor Value and work from there, other than that its not a bad attempt at an apocalypse character.
If you want a vehicle to have wounds you give it structure points. That is what all the titans have, that way a unit he pens rolls on the super heavy chart and goes from there.
-
first revision: lose armor values, add eternal warrior, 2 wounds, and becomes t6
whenever any model suffers perils of the warp while in his 24" psychic hood range, place a 10" template on top of that model, all models under the blast of warp-thunder take a s10 ap 2 hit and the psyker must reroll succesful invulnerable saves
favored enemy tzeench
better, or worse?

if this were to be the case, Dave, then it indeed would be a Super Heavy then.

Just noticed your revision...
It's definitely better than before, with the adjusted Toughness. 7 wounds and Eternal Warrior is a lot, but that can be countered with Str (Steve) D. weapons. The Psychic Hood seems a bit much though... He isn't a Librarian, and yet he has it. Is there a fluff element to this that I don't know about?
And speaking of fluff, is he an actual character in Blood Angels literature, or is he just a guy you created out of the blue?

-
@ed, huh? i think you missed the revision post
@ben, he is 1000 points, why wouldnt he have 7 wounds at least? mephiston at 250 has 5 of em...
aside, i made the entire chapter myself and wrote a very nice story (which bg can never read since its in a works file)
Mira, Ultimus of Thunder is the chapter master of the angels of oblivion. they were a section/subchapter of flesh tearers who one day dissappeared and are nicknamed "the lost marines" they basically show up at dire times then vanish without trace leaving behind utter carnage and a swath of death behind (alot like the legion of damned squad does). he was one of sanguinius's disciples who distrusted the warp and all who manipulated and studies constantly how to counter and use the warp against those who abuse it. the mantle he wears is a kill trophy from a greater daemon lord of tzeench he killed during the horus heresy. some rumors in the imperium are that he consumed his entire company in the warp trying to seek a way to destroy daemons and psykers, but most talk of the angels of oblivion is hushed and the emperor has demanded restricted access to information on mira (fluff for why they arent in books).
so does that sorta help with the reasoning? i hate psykers and have a huge ego that i cannot be felled in combat (im leeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrooooooooooooy jeeeeeeeeenkinnnnssssssss!!!)
-
So the latter... Ok, I get it.
I would keep it as a normal Psychic Hood then. Maybe give him a +1 to his Leadership roll (when opposing the other Psyker), but shrink the range to 18"?
The idea behind this is since his Chapter is opposed to using Psykers, it wouldn't make much sense to have the exact same tech of a SM Librarian, let alone better tech. Making it different in it's own way by strengthening one area and weakening another would make it more unique to his "fluff", so to speak.
Otherwise, it's not that bad.

i was thinking dropping the hood effect, just keeping the thunder blast ability (perils doesnt come up all that often) and instead the mantle grants a 2+ invul vs psychic powers?
otherwise, is he a solid apoc unit? any suggestions to improve him? i thought apoc units were supposed to be really powerful in comparison to other "normal" units.
also, he is currently on a 40mm base, should it be bigger? i was thinking if i could find someone with an extra dreadnought base of find a toy, to give it the dreadnought sized base. the model i am using is the size of a terminator (slightly larger).
the funny thing is, i didnt state an enemy psyker gets a template dropped on it, i said any ;) should i fix this or no? the reason i ask is arent the majority of psykers going to be on order (essentially killing my own team). i doubt any space marine leader would go to such lengths as attacking his own side (disagreement on ideas, yes, but not trying to kill them)
also, the points, is it good at 1000? is there a way to boost the value to 1500? maybe an extra ability or stat improvement?
