RULES FOR WARHAMMER 40K TOURNAMENT

Rule Books:
The Warhammer 40,000 Fifth Edition Rules will be used.

The following is a list of legal army choices:
Codex: Black Templars
Codex: Blood Angels
Codex: Chaos Daemons
Codex: Chaos Space Marines
Codex: Daemonhunters
Codex: Dark Angels
Codex: Dark Eldar
Codex: Eldar
Codex: Imperial Guard
Codex: Necrons
Codex: Orks
Codex: Space Marines
Codex: Space Wolves
Codex: Tau
Kroot Mercenaries
Codex: Tyranids
Codex: Witchhunters

MODELS AND POINTS:

1. Each player must bring an army consisting of 1850 points or fewer, in accordance with these rules.

2. All models must follow “What You See Is What You Get” (WYSIWYG). All weapons, war gear, and so forth must be represented on the model.

3. Forge World Imperial Armor units (and army lists) may NOT be used.  Forge world models may be used where appropriate, however.

4. We will require that each player submits an itemized army list to a Battleground Tournament Organizer on or before February 12th, 2011 (roughly a week before the event).  An Army Builder .pdf is preferred but a detailed text file is acceptable.

Please email lists to ChaseLaq@gmail.com as soon as they are finalized.

5. If illegal units or other rules violations are found in a player’s army list, at a minimum,
the models in violation will be removed from all subsequent play. In addition, tournament points may be deducted and/or award eligibility may be forfeited. If in doubt, please ask for clarification in advance from a Battleground Tournament Organizer.

The scenarios we will be using for the event will be the 2010 Adepticon Championship Missions.

The scenarios can be found here. (http://www.adepticon.org/wpfiles/2010/201040KChamps.pdf)

HOW THE TOURNAMENT WORKS:

• Competitors will participate in three (3) games over the course of the day. In each game, you
will play a scenario and record the outcome of the battle on your results sheet. Each round you
will play a different opponent.  Each round will last 2.5 hours.

• In the first round, players will be matched up randomly. After the first round, players will be
matched up according to current rankings in the tournament (Battle Points + Other Conditional Point Modifiers - presented in each scenario) e.g., the player in first place will play the player in second place and so on. We will try our best not to pair players that come to the event together in the first round. If a player receives a BYE they will be awarded the average of the winning teams points for the round.

• You will not play the same person twice.

• We will do our best to prevent a player from playing on the same table twice.

• The pairings for each round will be announced as soon as they are determined. Please be sure to
arrive at your table ready to play right away. We ask that each player be conscious of the
time and that you play at a regular and steady pace to complete the game. Anyone found slow
playing or deliberately stalling for any reason will be penalized.

• Each game will be played on a 4' x 6' board.

• Players will receive Results Sheets at the beginning of each round. Each results sheet must be filled in properly to ensure that match-ups and point totals are correct. Once Results Sheets are completed they are to be turned in at the counter so the scores can be entered into the computer.

BATTLES:

The Fifth Edition Rulebook will be in use for all games and will be the definitive guide
for all rules. The time limit for each game is 2.5 hours. At the end of this time limit, the round will be called; all players will need to finish their game immediately, and no additional time will be provided.

We will be using the GW Errata and FAQ for this event.

What You Need to Bring with You:
-Your (hopefully painted) miniatures
-At least TWO copies of your army list
-Rulebooks are required as are any additional books you need
-Pen and paper
-Dice and templates
-Tape measure
-Something to transport your army from table to table

Store Credit Awards will be given out to:
Store credit is good for any product in the store and all subsequent events.  It never expires and will be saved for you.

Best Generals
Second Best Generals
Third Best Generals (only awarded if the turnout is large)
Best Theme / Comp / Sportsmanship (team)
Best Painted (individual)

Note:  a player may only win one award.

Please post any questions or comments here.

I must have posted everywhere but here that it was full... fortunately for some there has been at least one drop.

So yeah, there is one (possibly two) spots available as of this minute.
Title: Re: [Plainville MA] 1850 Point 40k Singles - February 19th
Post by: Chase on January 31, 2011, 06:59:21 PM
We have had 3 people drop today alone.  1 person has filled one of those spots meaning I have 2 more available.

They are open to the first two people that can commit to playing on February 19th.

If someone wants the list feel free to PM me and request it.

Morrorlord thats easy to get around....   Dont die!

Yeah usually a good strategy is to kill the other persons stuff and not let your own stuff die. But I don't know its still kind of in its experimental stages.

I'm here to thank the BG crew for a well-run tournament, as it looked good from the player side of things. I'd call my tournament tale "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly", so one can imagine the stories I can laugh about now. A little bit of everything yesterday! :D

I know Bill's Chaos Daemons won Best General *and* Best Painted, so great day for him. Frank and his Dark Eldar (who pummeled me in the first round) went on to place 2nd, I believe.

I finished 16th. Ed finished 18th.

That's all I can recall at the moment. So 4 down, 24 places to go.

I would be the Denialist. Seriously, I resemble that guy. When I had a Deep Strike mishap with Fateweaver, I was *definitely* that guy.

lol, The only spot of bad luck I had in the tournament was during the first game my pathfinder devilfish exploded turn 1 killing 4 pathfinders inside. The remaining 2 failed their leadership and ran off the board T_T.
