sound interesting to anyone?
Dystopian Wars (http://spartangames.co.uk)
Imagine a world similar to our own, but subtly different. Now imagine the year is 1870 and the Industrial Revolution occurred decades earlier than in our own world. Technology is far advanced, and in many cases, unrecognisable, which has led to the development of fantastic naval vessels, hulking land ships and terror from the skies in the form of airships and war balloons.
The Dystopian Wars game is set in a Victorian Steampunk world and we have designed the rules to ensure a fun game with a large selection of high quality models in a couple of hours. The rules support Naval, Aerial and Land models from the outset, so that you can set up battles and scenarios in any combat setting.
Dystopian Wars features highly detailed resin and pewter miniatures with which you can roam the high seas, scour the smog filled skies looking for enemy flying ships, or doggedly defend the cities and countryside of your home nation using giant Land Ships.
Our fast play rules are optimised for large fleet actions, so you can get as many miniatures on the table as you want, and still finish an enjoyable game in an afternoon or evening. Dystopian Wars is also ideal for multiplayer games, because you get to activate individual squadrons of miniatures from one player to the next. The rules allow for the use of a deck of 52 Game Cards that add an exciting Fog of War element to each game.
You command one of the great imperial powers of Dystopian Wars, you can choose to defend your territories from foreign incursion, or you can conquer the world. The choice is yours...

Yes it does.

The models are beautiful. Can't see myself getting into another game. They will be releasing land armies in the near future too.
-
seems some of the land units are out, I'm going to give this game a shot. ordered the core, so we'll see.
plus the game is fairly new so new models and what not will be coming
-
Is the core enough for two armies? Or how does it break down?
-
core rule book. I have no idea how the army lists or battle value work. all i know is i have been looking for a "epic" scale game thats not historic and this might be the one
-
Adam, if you get a game going sometime let me know. I'd love to see it in action. I really like the steampunk feel to the models.
-
got the core and been reading it (yes reading not just looking at picture and skimming rules) i think this game is going to be great.
going to be in Abington Wednesday night for battletech so if anyone wants to take a peek at the book while i'm there.
-
I'll take a look at it then
-
Alright so i heard that D got a stock in and they all went out the door just as fast... so who is playing now and what armies are out there.
I got Prussian and going to be switching to Russian when wave two hits sometime this year or next
also check out Spartan Games Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/spartangames)

I am picking up some models that should be waiting for me.
FSA
-
1,000 points of Covenant of Antarctica by September. I have the Naval box right now.
-
I picked up the rules and the FSA fleet box. Hope to have it all painted/assembled by Sept and wouldn't mind giving it a shot then.
-
Britannia of course...
Now to start painting.
Cheers,
Alan

Looks interesting!
i might pick up a starter pack but probably wont make any major army decisions untill phase 2 with the russians come out.
is it similar to this other game that company makes? http://www.spartangames.co.uk/games/firestorm-armada (http://www.spartangames.co.uk/games/firestorm-armada)
looks like a similiar space concept

I bought the rule book last week, and was wondering if anyone would do a demo game. I am trying to decided which force to play also.
-
I saw this game being played in the store and liked the the look of it. After lurking online a bit I think I'm going to play as FSA or Kingdom of Britannia (currently leaning to FSA).
-
I bought the FSA box, and got 8 FSA tiny flyers, and 2 Prussian tiny flyers. Anyone else have this problem?
-
No, i haven't, even my carrier's were normal. You can probably tell them and they mightsend replacements, but its not too bad as they may help in 'which type is this flight or guys?' Also with FSA probably fighting Prussians at some time you can say the you just captured them from Nick or other Prussian player of your choice.

By the way there are lots of changes to all fractions on spartan's website. These affect all fractions and there are more to come on their blog.
-
the changes are pretty decent, Check them out here Spartan Games Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/SpartanGames) This is kept pretty up to date all the time
-
I'm satisfied, but hesitant. There are a number of undefined terms now. How they are defined will have a large impact on what these changes actually mean for the game. Additionally, there are some rules changes that do not make sense, even when we ignore the ones that need terms defined. Inventive Scientists is now needlessly complicated considering you'll only be using one generator per turn anyway.
1) The new "wing" rules are simultaneously awesome and terrible. I have the choice between 5 fighters/bombers or 1, ONE, recon plane? If I want 2 recon planes, that is my entire allotment of tiny fliers for the game. That's pretty rough.
2) Land ships are still terrible. I'm puzzled at why the CoA and FSA ones got nerfed. Land battles are largely unappealing because the models are not anywhere near as efficient or effective as air or naval models. Either point reductions or more special rules are necessary to make them more appealing.
3) Every nation's new MAR/generator/whatever got slapped on the STAT cards except EBS. Do they not get sharp turn now? I'm left puzzled.
However, I love the new Core Force rule. Less fliers will make everyone happy. Seeing KoB get some more marines and the Guardian generator is awesome. I know Rick will be excited.

So, I'm just starting out and reading the rule book, and now things are changed?
In any event, is anyone free for a match this Sunday?
-
I always bring my FSA with my Warhammer 40k stuff in Abington. I dont know all ofthe rules but I think I know most. I am up for a game if you are.
-
Once again there are updates on spartan's website, this time affecting Prussians only iirc.

-
Ian, the EBS don't have it on the cards because EVERY model in the army has it so they probablly decided against having to update each card. That mistake aside the game is going strong and I love the way it plays! Hopefully more will be able to show up Sundays. Or perhaps move to Saturday? Both? Just thoughts...
On the land models, I see no point in picking up land beyond personal reasons because land and air can affect them anyways and are more effective all around. Besides we all play with little tanks and soldiers, MOAR BOATZ!!!!
-
I will be around this Sunday for games. I get there at opening with both CoA and FSA in tow. I can do like, up to 2k points but prefer 1k.
-
UR BOATZ < MY BOATZ! LEZ DO EET! (again)
