Hey guys with three months and counting until the big game I figured I would just start two topics so the respective players can start discussing amongst themselves some plans of Data sheets and special characters that they want to bring. You know get everyone in the planning stages in case a few of us need to get motivated to start to work on our more epic pieces.
-
Allright. I'll be the first one in here then. I've got upwards of 20,000 Points of Space Wolves. And like another 10,000-12,000 Points of Marines. Whom else is on order?
-
Dark Angels reporting in. Roughly 6k worth of troops.
-
I'll be there with Guard and how ever many pts i'm allowed.
-
I too will have my dark angels with roughly 4000 maybe 4500 pints to play
Also is it that Dark Angel independents; there only can be 1 of each on the table?
-
the tenative date right now is set for january 3rd. The point value for each person is set for 3500. The player point value is decided, we are looking for some input as to how this date sits with everyone involved.
So if the 3rd is bad just give an idea of what saturday is better. We were looking at the following week as a possibility. Please just chime in on the other thread reguarding the date of the battle.
And yes please only one of a given independant character. Because there is only one of that person in the 40k universe.
-
Also is it that Dark Angel independents; there only can be 1 of each on the table?
I've written you a pm regarding this. It shouldn't be too hard to work out. You and I are basically just have to figure it out between us.
-
Ok, i Have Azreal and Ezekiel and i believe you have Belial....i dont think either of us has Sameal unless you now have him....
Also as a heads up i plan on using the Deathwing Redemption Force ;D
-
I will be there with purity seals on!
As for 3500 points I think I can swing it for the Marines. Can I get vulkan or pedro?
-
I don't see multiple of the same data sheet as being an issue, as long as they don't require a special character to be valid.
-
I'm tempted to bring in Eldar, if this is agreeable.
-
hell ya, I'd love to see more eldar.
I think last year we had one eldar player, and I'm not even sure he fielded 3000. So if you can muster 3500 bring'em on.
-
If anybody is short on points and can't make 3500, I am currently in need of 1250 extra. ::)
-

Gathering 3500 will not be a problem. Trimming down from the 4700 allowed in our last big fight is the problem... ;D
-
Just a quick favor, some people asked for an idea of how many of us were going to show this year.
Can I get a shout out from all that are planning on attending, I think we should say for now the date is the 10th. I know that there was a hand full of people that said the third was not good and the 10th was better. As of yet I have only seen one person say that they could not make it on the 10th or any date after.
-
Ok lads, It seems like right now we're a team of 7. Thats not so good. Anyone else out there hiding in the shadows like a sneaky raven guard? Or Forum-less like the feral worlders they are? It seems in so far as i can tell.
Space Wolves. Titans. Dark angels x2. Guard. Eldar. and DIY Marines?
-
Ran into a bit of a snag guys. I won't be able to bring my Dark Angels due to job training on the 10th. I won't be able to get to Battlegrounds before 6pm...
Any suggestions, or am I just going to have to pass on this one? I'd love to play if I could...
~ Doug
-
thought cookie was with you guys with his salamanders, and riley I heard was using his wolves this year.
-
Just trying to get a feel for who is where Kev, and the added names are exactly what I was looking for. thanks. I think Steve D is with his Griffins. Thats what like 10 or so now for order? Also to those on my team. When is too much too much? I'm currently capped off at @74 Loyalist Terminators give or Take 5.
-
When is too much too much? I'm currently capped off at @74 Loyalist Terminators give or Take 5.
Too much is too much when you can't fit it on the table that we use in the battle.
Not in your deployment zone, on the table.
-
nobody knows that to be true more than i do....
-
O and don't forget alan, of course I haven't seen him lately I think he is planning on attending this year.
I think the big thing is going to be space marines this year, and since there is no renegade marines unless they are modeled that way. There should be a decent showing for the order side this year.
Derek said he was going to start taking names soon, just to help get the ball rolling in case the teams wanted to organize.
-
I'll be there with My Guard maybe some templars but definately Guard.
-
My Wolves will not be fighting for the Imperium, I am bringing a different force, and they will fight for whatever side offers them the most slaves.
-
Hey guys. I haven't been to the store recently (I also just made this account), but I definetly would be in for playing in the apocalypse game on the tenth. I've got as many points of imperial guard as I need, maxing at probably around 5 or 6 thousand. I havn't made a list since I acquired my friend's models a few months ago. I can field an imperial shield infantry company, a couple squads of russes, a squad of sentinels, a battery (or squad, whichever one is 3) of basilisks, a catachan death trap patrol, a mechanized platoon, and a baneblade. I'll work with whoever to make datasheets if we want more or certain ones or something. My army is mostly infantry, however. I'm coming up to the shop on saturday, so I'll talk to people when I get there about signing up (unless I just did by posting...)
-
welcome to the boards.
The fight on the tenth is are soon to be legendary soon to be annual mega battle. You are more than welcome, the current situation is that there are two sides Order and Disorder. You would be order, of course, and the current army limit is 3,500 a player. All bell of lost souls and apocalypse data sheets allowed. If you have a home made sheet post it in the side you ons forum first. If they approve you post it in the other factions forum.
-
Thank you. I was at the store last year for the appocalypse game and watched the day unfold, so I've got a pretty good idea of how it works out. I've been going to the store for a couple years now. But yeah, sign me up for order ;D
-
So GT is over, and drop guard had a hell of a time. Poor bastards :)
Anyway, I hear 3500 pts so far per person, who's fighting for the side of the Imperium this year and who's losing?
Cheers,
Alan

Have you got a transcript of the interview between Imperial Network News and the drop guard survivor?
Looks like we have quite a few marines players, as usual. My Eldar are tentatively in. I'd expect a few titans from Rob. Things are still shaping up.

The call has been received and it appears the Guardians of New Atlantis (Aka the Aqua Marines) will be surfacing and heading to the battle as well...
With Titan, Troops, Transports, and Super Heavies I have roughly 4000pts.
I have data-sheets if anyone needs to see them.
-
your going to need to post the stats to any home made data sheets here, so that they can be approved prior to the mega battle.
-
Ok here is my force as it stands with custom Data Sheets:

Doesn't extra armor ignore stunned results or treats them as shaken?
Also I think you need to classify which weapons count as primary weapons on these vehicles. Under super heavies in apocalypse primary weapons get a 4+ save against any stunned or destroyed results against them.
-
Doesn't extra armor ignore stunned results or treats them as shaken?
I beleive that's right Kev. Extra armor takes off one effect off the table and ignores shaken. Not sure if it changed any w/ 5th though.
-
Stunned is treated as shaken and thats it, it lets whatever has the Extra Armor still move but not shoot. Walkers with it can still move and assault if they get stunned but cannot shoot.
-
Hey Rob, you see the updated rules for the Reaver from FW?
-
Hey Rob, you see the updated rules for the Reaver from FW?
I haven't seen any change. Care to link me to them?
-
No.
I can show you the physical copy though :P.
I haven't been able to get a fair use electronic back up of my shiney new IA6 yet. Points went up to 1450 but that's all I can remember off the top of my head. When are you going to be at BG next?

Probably Thurs, Fri, and Sat
-
nice deepdive,
I think that the primary classification will help you out alot. I mean who can argue a 4+ save against any kind of hit against the weapon.
Just another thought, when would you roll to make use of the leadership ability of the guardian? At the begining of your turn ? It just seems a little confusion to me, you might just be better off going with either a 18" or 24" range on that ability.
-
Updated the range on the Titan's LD range.

I have been told I am required to play this year and now its just a matter of chooseing a army. Right now I am planning on bringing my Blood Angels. Sadly I don't owne any Super Heavys or other special units so it will just be 100+ space marines.

Hooray!!! Josh is here!

thats almost enough reason to switch sides!

I recently signed up with my Eldar. I've got lots of points and lots of options on how I balance my forces, including a super heavy and several flyers.
I do not have a great deal of enthusiasm about meeting Chaos head on in close combat. I have some interesting close combat options, but crashing head on into waves of close combat chaos marines is not Craftworld Elefayin's idea of fun.
If anyone wants to field hoards of close combat marines, and wants some back up heavy stuff, I wouldn't mind teaming up and deploying horizontally, marines in front, backed up with Eldar firepower. Anyone interested, let me know. I'll tune my force around whatever my partner is missing.
-
Hello everyone. New to the forums... I signed up in person last night and will be bringing some combination of Sisters, Witch Hunters and Guard. More likely than not it'll be Sisters and Guard, but I'll see what happens with the points...
I'm assuming everything has to be WYSIWYG since otherwise it would be too hard to keep track of things.
Anyway I don't have any super heavies or formations or anything (though I think I can manage a Russ squad). I might consider getting Apocalypse-specific stuff if this is sure to be an annual thing and it ends up being my cup of tea.
For now though, I'm disappointed that there are no Sisters-specific formations. Sure, there's Witch Hunter stuff, and Guard stuff and Marine stuff that a Witch Hunter could have, but nothing that a dedicated Sisters player could make use of...
Should I post with a rough idea of what I've got, or are points enough? I'll check Faith rules and see if there's any reason to bring Celestine... If we share them she might be risky.
-
Sorry I have not replied sooner.
My name is Rick, and I have green Marines. I am in the process of converting over all my bright green colored marines to salamander colored marines, a successor chapter called (will name it later). I wont have much in the way of apocolypse big units, but I have some land raiders that might make it a few turns since we have some super heavies of our own.
See you on the Battle Field
Also has there been a pre-game meeting made yet to discuss what we are bringing, strats, and apoc strats yet?
-
I going as far as I know. I'll be bringing guard, with a fair handful of tank and troops.

In my opinion this is the type of stuff that should get a bit of discussion at this point. Keep it fluffy, add in a little teamwork, and we are sure to have an awesome time on the 10th.

They've infiltrated our post. They have more posts in their thread.
We've already lost!
Will we meet to discuss strategy or exchange email or something?
-
I'm waaaghing all up in your thread!!!!!
In my opinion you guys should plan a meeting but exchange emails in case anyone misses the date you decide upon. You have to remember too that there are a few people signed up that do not access the forums, cookie with his soon to be complete salamander army being one example.
I think the best bet would be to designate a primary person, someone you can all contact. Not nescessarily someone "in charge", just to help keep communication clear. I'm not sure if derek is taking contact info from the people signing up, if he is that is a good starting point for you guys to get some open discussion going about planning.

I think Librarian Eos would have been more appropriate but it still fits.
Good job

Anyone stepping up to organize this? I would but I'm a first-timer and when I stopped by I couldn't keep up with all the names of the various units being thrown around so I doubt it should be me...
-
Mostly we need to remeber to have our bases covered.
We need to be able to deal with flyers, Super heavy's/titans, massed troops, sudden ambushes, flank marching armys, Heavy Infantry, and toughness 7+ monserous creatures with 3+ or better armor saves. Ohh and be able to take and hold objectives useing troops.
Flyers are tough to hit and hard to really hurt without ap 1 weapons luckly they usualy have armor no better than 10 things with AA mounts are ideal and you should remember all pintle mounted weapons are considered to be AA mounted. the odd hydra flak vehicle is ideal but will be targeted quickly failing at that Pintel mounted storm bolters and heavy stubbers on rhino's and chimmeras are probebly the best for there points.
Super Heavy's and Titans can be tough I would like to see the two sides titans fighting eachother but its more likely they will focuse on nukeing troops. titan hammer squads are also very nice especialy with the new storm sheilds. that also makes them great against monsterous creatures.
Sudden Ambushes/Flank marched armys Also drop poding armys and the new demon codex army. they tend to appear where you least want them at the worst time. in most games they can be tough but with flank march and the less formal set up of mega battles you can see whole armys arrive in one turn right behind you. this takes some dedicated troops both mobile assault and ranged to get to them and nutrilize them before they do too much damage. I would be very suprised if we get to turn 3 without a good size army trying to get behind our lines. Idealy the troops dedicated to this should be fast, assault troops, or mounted, bikes and such, mabye even a few deep strikeing units in reserves to deep strike into our lines when needed.
Heavy infantry both sides will have terminators and similarly tough units they can often shrug off all but the worst attacks and I wont be suprised to see 100+ of them headed at us. as allways plasma weapons are great. these types of units are usualy very slow on there own, takeing out there transportation early and giveing yourself several rounds to gun them down is almost required.
Monsterous creatures cant forget these guys and not just tyranids but chaos demons too. unlike most titans these things tend to be decent up close and far more mobile. Similar to titans these things almost require you take them on with similar creatures and mechines. 12 las cannons shooting at a toughness 9 bio titan will only avarage 4 pre save wounds and with 8-10 wounds itself this could get dicey.
Finaly, Holding and Captureing objectives. We all love mega battles because we get to play around with toys normaly too big for the game but we cant forget the rank and file solders those basic troops that every army needs, in some ways guard are perhaps the best army in the game at holding a location, lots of men lots of guns. for objectives in our deplyment zone or near it bunker stratagems can keep our men safe in other locations vehicles with troops in or behind them stand a far better chance then alone.
I know none of this was useful at all but I should be reading..or asleep so I needed to waste time on something.

Appremtly im late to this party. Inquisitor Lord Ramerez has Reqisitioned the Howling Griffons 1st Company and they will show their Might! All this sounds reasonable. But it occurs to me that we can't cover our bases if we don't coordinate our lists to at least some extent before the event...
-
I strongly agree with that. Get on it.
-
haza the order side is currently in dis-order. O the sweet irony!!!
-
Okay, the forces of Order.. really? That's really not quite accurate. After all we represent the Imperium of Man, that is billions of worlds that the forces of Chaos, Dark Eldar, orks, Necrons, Tyranids, Tau, and Eldar would all love to get their greasy mits on.
However, that said, the Tau and Eldar would much rather work against you than with you so they fight on our side. So check it out billions of planets, a multitude of languages and attitudes to select from and then we add the weird dudes. And still you persist in calling this the side of Order. We're more like a theocratic democracy, with side kicks. Our communist allies will be with us until the end of their enemies and we'll be back at our hobby, infighting and ruining each others petty schemes.
So for future reference, we're the good guys. That means we're better looking, have cool guns and enjoy the simpler things in life.
Cheers,
Alan

I have to agree we need a quick meeting, what's everyone doing the weekend aftern Xmas, Saturday around noon?

Quick question for the order folks, anyone have any crux terminatus shoulder pads? (the inquisition type symbol that comes with the HQ and Cmd Squads)

Around noon, Sat Jan 3, I'll hopefully be with Rob Sims' Dark Heresy crew in the back room, likely with Cookie who is also running with Order this year. We generally play until around two, but I suspect we could adjust schedules a bit, one way or another, for an Orderly meeting.

understood, but what about the Saturday after christmas, or the 27th on this fine Calendar....
-
I will most likely be there every saturday after Christmas, so whenever we want to organize something I can come. I can't offer any tanks, or even any infantry to help our side though. =\
-
The 3rd works okay for me. The 27th doesn't.

Ha, ok I'll refer to you as the "good guys". Mostly in the form of:
"Jeeez, those guys are good at dying."
HAHAHAHA I have ribbed you justly in your forum. Compare yourselves to me and know that you will come up wanting.

Hi everyone,
My name is Phil (obviously) and I just signed up to play on the 10th. I should be coming in with Daemonhunters, and the Throne of Judgment as an Allied HQ.
I'm still doing out the math, but I should be coming in with between 2000 and 3000 points, including:
- ~15 Grey Knights, two with flamethrowers, two with psycannons
- 11 Grey Knight Terminators, two with flamethrowers, one with psycannon (I was thinking of making them two Grand Master retinues)
- 1 to 3 Inquisitor / Inquisitor Lords, with some variation on Retinues and Psychic Powers. (I have an Inquisitor mini, a variety of Inquisitor's retinue minis, an Asmodeus functioning-as-Inquisitor-if-possible mini, and a witch hunter inquisitor + retinue box that I was hoping to pick apart and field as either pat of a retinue or as an inquisitorial retinue itself, or maybe even as an allied HQ)
- 1 Throne of Judgment (that I bought because it looked cool - and initially thought it was a daemonhunters piece - and I was assured could be used as an allied HQ with daemonhunters for this game.)
- 1 Vindicaire Assassin
- 1 Orbital Bombardment. If possible, I'll take more. :D
Unfortunately, I don't have time to model up any vehicles (which I know shortchanges me quite a bit). Nor do I really have the money in the budget for additional pieces, unless it's absolutely essential. Sorry. :-\
So, the points are fairly fixed in terms of piece values. I still consider myself a rookie so any help in terms of selecting (or avoiding) psychic powers and equipment or avoiding embarrassing army set up mistakes would be very handy. Thanks! ;D

You could fill in all the points with Orbital Bombardments, ahah. But I know Dave Haber was hoping to get a bit more, so you should probably wait for his response.

:Phil:
I'm not sure about the other units, but I believe that the Grey Knight terminators are very simular to regular terminators in regaurds to weapon restrictions, unless you are splitting up the models into more than one unit. I use Deathwing Terminators and we have restricted weapons and I think it goes for all terminator units. Not sure if you field them as a Grand Master retinue if it makes a difference, or not.
In the deamon hunter codex it says that only one model can replace it's strom bolter w/ a flamthower for 15 pts, or a psycannon for 25 pts.
Sorry to be bearer of bad news, if you were going to field them as one unit. I'd check on the other units if you can. Seth Partain played Grey Knights last year in the megabattle ( and waited very patiantly) IF you can get in touch w/ him I bet he maybe able to help you, or ask just about anyone and everyone. I'm sure someone will know.
Also I won't worry about vehicels so much, that's what teammates are for. Besides most vehicels can't hold objectives. Besides I had only a whirlwind and a dreadnought last year and only the whirlwind got to kill anything. Both ended up being tossed into lava by some orc mech. Thanks Kevin I hadn't forgotten haha. :P Have fun with the models you got and do what you can to help your team win.
-
the gray knight hero's can also take psycannons and incinerators so its possible to have two of the special weapons in each terminator squad one of them on the character/Sargent type the other on the regular squad member.
-
Yeah; sorry, I was more mentioning numbers than specific unit groupings. I haven't entirely figured those out yet. I was considering adding the extra model (be it flamer or psycannon) as a Grand Master or even an Inquisitor. I'm still playing around with things right now, in order to give myself some variety yet not too many layers of complexity.
But, thank you for the input!

Formatting will suck but you guys can figure it out.

ok new data sheet coming down the line for my "Thunderhawk Dropship Submarine type thing"

The Poseidon "SubHawk" Transporter
Pts: 550
Front: 13
Side: 12
Rear: 10
BS: 04
Type: Super-Heavy Aquatic/Flyer, Orbital Lander
Structure Points: 3
Crew: 2. Space Marines
Weapon: The Poseidon "SubHawk" Transporter has Two twin-linked heavy bolters and Three twin-linked LasCannons.
All Poseidon "SubHawk" Transporters have a decoy flare launcher.
Options: A Poseidon "SubHawk" Transporter may carry up to six Hellstrike missiles / Torpedoes for +10 pts per missile.
Transport: A Poseidon "SubHawk"Transporter may carry four Dreadnoughts, four full marine squads or any variant there in.
( Vehicles and passengers must be paid for separately.)
SPECIAL RULES
Ceramite Shielding: In order to resist the heat of atmospheric entry a Poseidon "SubHawk" Transporter has thick ceramite shielding. This makes it resistant to melta (and melta-type) weapons. Melta weapons, including melta-bombs, never roll an extra dice for armour penetration due to being at half range.
Decoy Flares / Countermeasures: If the Poseidon "SubHawk" Transporter takes a glancing hit from enemy fire, then it may fire its decoy flares to re-roll the result. The second result must stand, even if it is better than the first. Decoy flares may only be used once per game.
Unloading Vehicles / Troops: Vehicles and Troops can disembark from the transporter very quickly. The Poseidon "SubHawk" transporter lands using the normal orbital lander rules.
Loading Vehicles: An empty transporter can pick up a vehicle by using the orbital lander rules to land on top of a vehicle. It must then spend a complete turn on the ground whilst the target vehicle or troops are loaded in each bay. When the transporter takes off it takes the vehicle (and any passengers) with it.

I don't get it...is it supposed to be a submarine? why would it have ceramite shielding in order to withstand the heat of reentry? And can lasers really fire underwater?
Mike

A thunderhawk transporter for 95 more points and you get to possibly dismiss a damage roll (like a venerable dread), gain two twin linked lascannons, gain AV 13 for the front (huge for a flyer) and incredible capacity for troops, better than either thunderhawks.

Yes its is supposed to be a submarine... the theme of my army is an aquatic space marine force... for table top reasons it has the same structure as a thunder hawk transporter and is basically one that is submersible. Anyway...lasers can fire underwater... most 40k weapons can i believe except for flamers.

I searched for Thunder hawk T point values and found a page saying 500. If that is wrong I can adjust the points. As far as armament its does have 3 twin las but 1 is fixed arc rear, and the other two are fixed arcs on the side and they don't even cover the whole side. (while both can shoot forward.) the Heavy Bolters would be 360. but that is why i posted it here... I need feedback to get this right.

This was worth the click.

Ok so is "The Poseidon" ok?
-
Joking aside, the AV 13 bugs me as does the reroll a damage result. I fielded two flyers last year and they were alive the whole game. Even the normal thunderhawk did.
Can it carry vehicles or only infantry and dreads?

You guys are screwed:
