Potential for more details later today (from me, not GW).
TL:DR - 6th ed comes out the 30th
-
Rulebook and cards for me please
-
Cards and Servo Skull for me Please.
-
I can't wait to see pictures! The servo-skull tape measure might be very cool...
And I can't wait for September, the rumored release of the Starter set(s!)...
-
What's up with the cards? I guess we'll find out when the rulebook comes out.
-
Rule book and cards.

Rulebook and cards for me Chase.

-
Directions on how to play deathwing for me Chase.
Mike kachanis
I'll take a book and cards as well.
-
I'll take a psychic cards Chase,
Not making a decision on the book until they come out with some pictures of standard, gamers, and collectors... and i KNOW they are going to make us wait until like fraking September to get out hands on the new Black Reach and MINI rulebook everyone is going to use anyway lol
-
Rulebook and Cards for me at the abington location. Thanks.
Alex
-
i would like some tape 2
-
Just got off the phone with my GW Rep... Here's some info:
Collector's Edition will be a very high end version of the actual rulebook. He hasn't actually seen it yet but think leather bound, fancy gold edging on the paper, higher quality paper, etc.
Gamer's Edition will be identical to the normal rulebook plus dice and a satchel.
Gameplay stuff:
Models that are killed MUST be removed from closest to furthest.
No more wound allocation.
Cover saves are either 5+ or 6+
Players may premeasure.
Random charge length.
Players will be able to "buy" fortifications. Want a Defense Line? Cool. Want a Fortress of Redemption? Cool.
There IS an allies chart.
No percentage based Force Org
Feel No Pain is 5+
I was told, "It's not a completely new game like what happened from 2nd to 3rd ed, but players WILL have to relearn the game on the 30th."
-
A rulebook for me.
"Random charge length"
I hope that's not as awful as it sounds.
-
James Gianotti
Brenton
Dave Drouin + cards
-
Models that are killed MUST be removed front closest to furthest. = sorta like
Cover saves are either 5+ or 6+ = like
There IS an allies chart. = i'm a noob, i have no idea what this is
No percentage based Force Org = there was one before?
Feel No Pain is 5+ = awesome
-
That closest models removed first thing is horrible. Now people will be spending even more time futzing with where their meltas are (or are not) and they're be tons of arguments on just which model is closest (it's not always so clear cut).
-
I'm going to take a wait and see on the closest to furthest rule. It may not be that bad, and the payoff in terms of interesting strategy and cinematic play seems HUGE. As long as the rules clearly define where you measure shots from, it should be fairly easy to tell which X models are closest to that firing point.
-
I do hope they put a rule in like in chess though, "if you take your hand off the piece, you moved it and can't take it back." That might minimize futzing problems.
-
In past editions you could take Units from other Codexes with restrictions to fill out your army. This was the Original Idea with Grey Knights was that you could add Grey Knights to an Imperial Army to supplement them with an Assault Based anti-monster unit.
What it means is you want to Grey Knights to team up with a Group of Black Templar to slay the Enemies of the Empire in a great Crusade you can do this now. Salamanders and Blood Angels been buddies since Armageddon they will team up to save the day.
Buying Fortifications will be cool make yourself a Nice Defensive line to defend against the Onslaught of Mech and Assault with an Infantry firing line.
Feel No Pain and Cover Saves going up are IMHO awesome. They were a little ridiculous at 4+ save .
I been complaining about the models closest to furthest for a while now. Templates going to be stupid they hit the back guys and guys up front die. The only benefit I see is you can loop around to hit specific models first but even then it will create arguments.
Pre-measuring is the only thing going to change my thoughts on the Closest to furthest since your going to be able to measure beforehand your movements and shots that your going to kill what you want to kill if you can get into position.
-
Is that a dice satchel?
-
Models that are killed MUST be removed from closest to furthest. = Assault army Nerf.
No more wound allocation. = Nobs are starting to become overpriced.
Cover saves are either 5+ or 6+ = KFF is looking much less useful.
Players may premeasure. = eh
Random charge length. = This could be a major Nerf to my Orks....because they are so overpowered anyway. This could be very bad for any assault based army.
Players will be able to "buy" fortifications. Want a Defense Line? Cool. Want a Fortress of Redemption? Cool. = Could be interesting, but Orks do not have a word for Defense.
There IS an allies chart. = Wow, Orks will now have a way to deal with AV14...we just use someone else...but wait, no one is as cool as us...
Feel No Pain is 5+ = Nobs just became way over priced
Don't know if this is going to really hurt Orks or not without knowing the rest of the rules
-
I'm also interested to see how this is going to play out
No more wound allocation.
so if you get 5 invuln saves and 10 armor saves for a 5 man space marine unit it doesnt matter because as soon as you 5 fails the unit is dead?
or how about a mixed unit, say 4 space marines and 1 guy with a stormshield and they get shot at with 4 armor saves and 1 invuln save how you going to determine who gets the invuln save?
what if they are in a line the same distance to the guys shooting at them?
also changes a lot of unit compositions, no reason to take stormshields or warding staffs in a mixed unit if you won't be able to allocated to them
guess i should just shutup and paint until the 30th and see for myself lol
-
Yeah, the 30th will be a fun day. :)
-
Noob question, what are these munitorum templates, markers, tape measure and such??? What does munitorum even mean?
-
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Departmento_Munitorum#.T9_turVrPW4
http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Departmento_Munitorum
The Imperium supplies.
-
so what are the templates for? Or do we not know yet?
-
They're just fancy large blast, small blast, and flamer templates.
You know the cool looking WHFB templates that are in gold plastic? These with be the 40k version of those.
-
Ok that's pretty cool I guess. I'll have to see how much $$ I have then mabey order it at Abington.
-
I want one of each, that's $305 though! I'll have to figure something out, maybe something for my birthday!
-
If people are serious about trying to get a collectors edition or gamers edition please let me know ASAP. GW has a very limited supply and we are not guaranteed any.
-
Apparently there are going to be some of the new 6th edition rules in the upcoming WD as a kind of appetizer to 6th ed. So Chase, how early would I have to come in to make sure that I got a copy of the new WD when it arrives?
Over at Faeit 212 they have a list of what some of them are supposed to be
http://natfka.blogspot.com/2012/06/white-dwarf-6th-edition-rule-leaks.html
If this is true...random charge could be really really nasty for the Orks. If Ghazzy lets me boyz make a full charge without rolling...going to need to get me some more AoBR boyz and go straight up green tide.
-
Hmm... Good question, Robert.
WD gets shipped separately from all of our other, normal stuff. I anticipate it getting here sometime between right this minute and Thursday. My email is telling me they shipped it out on the 15th, so that should be pretty accurate.
Unfortunately, I did not order any extras this time around. :(
I will have one set aside for you. They're not going to last long, that's for sure.
-

Chase, I'm guessing that a good supply of the templates and tape measures and cards will be avaliable? Likely will want to get them but holding out until I see them (though I know they'll look awesome). I do want to get a gamer's edition though, can you put that in for me? I'm holding out on the collectors edition right now.
-
Sure thing.
-
Can I put in for the cards and the core book?
Chase: Yes, Steve D.

Just getting a sec to read the link. Man, that stuff sounds cool!! I really hope all that is right.
The only thing I dislike so far is the 2d6 assault move. At least you get to premeasure. I wonder what the penalties will be if you fail to engage the unit youre charging.
-
I really like the remove unit closest to firing unit, it makes it more "real life"
-
I really like the remove unit closest to firing unit, it makes it more "real life"
I really do not like this. As as assault army, I do not like the idea of never getting any closer to what I am trying to damage.

Collectors Edition Details
When the officers of the Imperial Guard pray to the Emperor for salvation, it is for the intervention of his Angels of Death that they beseech him. The Warhammer 40,000 Collectors Edition represents a sacred artefact, a reliquary of the Space Marines over which they invoke the Emperor's divine blessilng. Its leatherette exterior features a debossed design of an Iron Halo and Imperial Aquila. Two panels open either side to reveal for gold ___ embossed arched faces, within which are depicted four great heroes of the Space Marines. A secret panel pops open at the otp of the reliquary, revealing access to a premium edition of the Warhammer 40000 rulebook. The pages of this hardback rulebook are made from the very highest quality parchment paper, making it an even greater tome to possess. The Warhammer 40,000 Collectors' edition is strictly limited to 4000 individually numbered copies worldwide, so don't miss out on the great opportunity to own a genuine artifact from the 41st milenium.
-
Gamers Edition Details
The Warhammer 40,000 Gamers' Edition represents a Munitorium Officer's kit as if it came straight out of the 41st Millennium. The Gamers' Edition bundle consists of a versatile brown leatherette signal satchel, a Warhammer 40,000 rulebook and a limited edition set of 12 red Munitorium Dice that are only available with this set and come with a lasgun power pack tin. The satchel is large enough to carry the rulebook along with any accompanying Codexes and Munitorium Templates, but also features three internal pouches, each designed to fit a lasgun power pack tin. Two 4mm thick metal pin badges are also included (one representing the Imperial Aquila and the other the eight-pointed chaos star), one of which can be fitted above the satchel's wooden toggle so that you may proudly declare your allegiance for or against the Emperor. The Warhammer 40,000 Gamer's edition is only available from the website and in strictly limited numbers, so don't miss out.
-
Oh yeah, both those descriptions come from the new WD.
-
Hey Chase,
Please change my order from just Psychic cards to the Psychic cards and a normal rulebook. The pictures of the gamers edition didn't impress me that much.
thanks
-
Chase put me in for a set of templates as well. Thanks
-
Chase can you sign me up for a rulebook and psychic cards.
I'll probably be picking them up on the 30th.
Thanks!
-
Rulebook and psychic cards for me in Abington.
-
Here is some more stuff that is in the new WD about Warhammer 40K: Screw Xenos edition...oh, I mean Space Marine: The Gathering.

For Ken Tellum in Plainville.
I'll be there the release weekend and just the basic book.
-
put me down for the rulebook please. in Abington
-
There are Abington players on the forums (rejoyce) so you guys are going to the 6th edition release party, right ;)
-
I know I sound like a broken record, but please let me know if you plan to pick up a book on launch weekend or the week that follows it.
There is a chance I will be limited on the stuff I can get so it's VERY important that I preorder correctly.
This is INCREDIBLY important if you would like the Collector's Edition, Gamer's Edition, Tape Measure, Power Cards, or Templates.
-
I will be in on sunday evening on launch weekend.
-
If I want the tape measure I'll be sure to let Nick or Cale know but I did already let them know that I wanted the core rulebook so (for right now) I'm all set
-

All set, dude.
-
after seeing the picture of the limited eddition is it to late to pre-order one?
-
Quick question, do you need the cards or is it like the warhammer magic cards that they are just there to make it a little easer?
-
after seeing the picture of the limited eddition is it to late to pre-order one?
Which limited edition book, Steve? Both the Collector's Edition and Gamer's Edition are EXTREMELY limited.
-
ill take gamers please.
-
I believe the cards are just like fantasy a deck for quick reference and possible alternate powers selection.
-
I believe the cards are just like fantasy a deck for quick reference and possible alternate powers selection.
Screw it. Chase, please put me down for a Collector's Edition rulebook. If I'm gonna go out, I'm gonna go out with the Collector's Edition in my hand. Hopefully they will ship you some.
-
Oh, and Chase unless I get mugged or something I shall pick mine up on Saturday.
-
While there is the usual "ZOMG PRICE INCREASE!"
GW actually has lowered the price per unit on Kroot Hounds.
Thanks GW.
-

You never thank GW. NEVER!!!

The price for going to see a movie is approximately $5-$7 per hour.
The dollars per/entertainment hours for pretty much anything related to gaming is better by a huge margin.
This is especially true if you enjoy painting.

I'm planning on being there Sat June 30th, but if you're limited in ordering, I'm at the Abington store at least once a week so I could wait til the following weekend if needed, no biggie.

As of today I will "not be limited on the amount of normal rulebooks (I) can order."
The other stuff, especially the Collector's and Gamer's Editions I will likely be limited on.

So Necrons are on order's side?
Your move.
-
Well THAT can't happen!
I haven't so much as flipped through the Necron book. Do they really fight together (like, more than bashing on a common enemy)?
-
Did you get my Preorder chase?
-
yup

The Goss Marines just want breakfast, if you like breakfast, and you want waffles instead of toast, we can be friends.
-
Chase, take my gamer's edition reserve and boost it with some templates, a tape measure and some cards. I really want the collectors edition, but I can't get it right now. I'll probably have to get it on the secondary market... the almighty ebay. I'm really hoping I'll be at Plainville for the launch day, but I can't grantee that. I will be within the next couple of days though, Thursday at the latest.
-
Chase the answer to your question is NO. It was a blurb in the codex that had them fight a common foe but by al lmeans would never happen on the regular.
-
They are BFFs.
We will know for sure when the big book is released and BA and Necrons can be allies.
-
Necrons are probably the most ordered force in 40k. What do they want. Everyone dead seems pretty order based.
-

That's right -- just ask yourself: why are Blood Angels so long lived?!

By that logic, so are the tyranids! Consume all biomass and structure it appropriately.

I remember a little thing in a grey knight book where they teamed up with eldar to fight some battle...
That being said i imagine all the space marines and IG will be sitting at the cool lunch table, a couple xenos at another another, and tyranids sitting by themselves in a corner

If this is any indicator then this is what the allies matrix will look like. Chaos players will be very happy. Looks like if Blood Angels ally with Necrons then it could be very risky lol. Its the last page of the pdf.

Brothers in Arms Benefit – One non-vehicle unit per
Force can select one universal special rule from the list
below; this rule cannot be taken on a unit that already
has it and must be written on the army list for the unit
prior to the event.
• Counter-Attack
• Move Through Cover
• Night Vision / Acute Senses
• Preferred Enemy (must select a codex to be a preferred
enemy prior to the event and write it on the army list
next to the relevant unit)
• Skilled Rider
• Stealth
• Stubborn
Unholy Alliance Penalty – At the start of the first game
turn the Army with the Unholy Alliance rolls a D6 for
each of their units. On the roll of a 1, the unit is shaken
by the presence of their ‘allies’. Non-Vehicle units count
as going to ground and vehicles count as Crew Shaken.
(Note: this still applies if the vehicle could not normally
be shaken)
i wonder if these are going to be in the 6th ed rules or if these are special just for this event in the PDF
interesting
-
Necrons and Tyranids do what they want, they are the honey badger of space.
Also Necrons are just Tomb Kings in space.

Well if you read the latest Empire army book you will see that the Tomb Kings came to unite with the humans to fight against the Vampire Counts, soooo.... sound familar?
-
Most likely Alliances and Terrain purchasing will not make into tournaments. At least the rumor mill instances anyway.
-
Most likely Alliances and Terrain purchasing will not make into tournaments. At least the rumor mill instances anyway.
I think terrian would add too many complications to tournaments, by alliances do you mean being able to take a detachment from another codex? Because that is an added mechanic i would love to see in tournaments, surd it will probably lead to overpowered combos but i guess we will see
-
Doubles tournament with allies. So I have Space Wolves,Blood Angels, Grey Knights,And Imperial Guard Versus Chaos Space Marines, Chaos Daemons, And Dark Eldar.
-
Most likely Alliances and Terrain purchasing will not make into tournaments. At least the rumor mill instances anyway.
This reflects my initial thoughts without seeing the rules or talking to anyone (with respect to Singles events anyhow).
I will say that I am excited about the variety this may add to our tournaments though. It also allows far more distinction between a "casual" event and a "more serious" event.
Doubles tournaments will almost certainly incorporate some aspects of all this.
-
I have my preconceptions about what will and won't work, but I do believe Sam and I both are reserving public judgment until we actually have the rulebook.
-
I'm being hopeful that I can include an inquisitor or witch hunter in my IG forces again... I miss that :(
-
Just put in a order for the dice with the holder and tin. I think the lasgun clip tin is just SO cool. I would pay $15 for just the tin, then you get 12 dice and holders! SO pumped for next saturday!!!
-
Chase, real quick will the tape measure and dice be available for saturday? Cuz I noticed that they are not avaible for advance order on GWs website and in the new White Dwarf they did not say a release date. Thanks in advance.
-
The tape measure will be available on the 30th unless the date they sent me is incorrect (and it isn't).
The dice + tin will be available on July 28th.
The dice in the las gun clip might only be available with the Gamer's Edition. I'm not sure what the other dice tin will look like and I did not have time to read the WD tonight.
-
It does say in WD that it comes with all 3, but it does seem to good to be true :-\ I guess we will all find out on saturday
-
From GW on Facebook, not sure if this applies to FLGS' and GW locations:
"Due to problems with the warp, the limited edition dice sets and the servo-skull tape measure - as shown in White Dwarf this month - have been delayed. (These are standard sets, not the red ones that come with the Gamers' Edition.) We'll let everyone know as soon as they're available to order, but for now please accept our apologies. Now, to purge some Daemons..."
-
well... that sucks
-
Almost half of the 40k armies have no access to psychic powers, how do you get access to the new psychic discipline cards unless you take psychic allies? It seems that both allies rules and psychic powers are centric to the new edition and almost certainly play off each other. Only one more week until final confirmation! :D
-
If the psyker powers are central to 6th edition, I really hope that Perils is actually dangerous and/or unpredictable.
Yeah, fat chance.
-
I remember hearding that the satchel can hold 3 lasclips but only came with the one. I was wondering how to get the others, guess they come with the dice coming out next month then? I'll be picking two of those up then, just to have the clips!
EDIT: Am I the only one that hasn't gotten the latest WD? I don't know why my copies have been getting in so late these last few months.
-
Looks like official allies are in http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?catId=&categoryId=§ion=&pIndex=0&aId=22400024a&start=1&multiPageMode=true

Wow, Necrons, IG and Orks can ally with everyone....
Still liking the idea of Orks with a squadron of Lemon Russes.....
-
What the.... Marines can ally with Necrons Dark Eldar, Eldar, Tau and Orks? :o this makes no sence...
-
What the.... Marines can ally with Necrons Dark Eldar, Eldar, Tau and Orks? :o this makes no sence...
When did the fluff go from Kill the alien, to fight with the alien....
-
Actually Orks and Necrons can not ally with everyone, and it appears they get penalized for allying with the few Marines chapters that they can fight with. IG will be the most popular ally to take, and yes Leman Russes are going to sell like hot cakes now haha.
Marines can field a squad of Crisis Suits or Leman Russes, and Tau can field a squad of lychguard or assault terminators if they chooses, etc, etc. I think this is awesome balance to the game because now players can fill in the weaknesses of their codex with units from other codexes.
Ultimately this is a great business move by GW, because now you can buy a box of terminators or bloodletters (or whatever ;) ) without having to fully invest in an entirely new army.
-
I like this and dislike this for multiple reasons.
Likes
-Can have fluffy armies such as Deamons and Chaos marines, Tau and guard modeled as tau militia etc
- can get power from other Codecies to fill gaps
- can write a narrative on why armies are working together.
dislikes
-certain armies should almost never have allies, IE: Tyrinids and Necrons
- Marines are usualy very very Xenophobic with the exception of a few chapters they have no reason to work with aliens
- I see cross codex abuse coming to tournaments now as stated before lets expect the sales of Leman Russ to raise.

I agree with your likes. And I agree with your first 2 dislikes. I think IG are taking a Hit in the Mech Department though I could be wrong. Its Confirmed Vehicles going to have Hull Points. I think IG vehicles going to have stuff like 1 or 2 hull points making them rather fragile vehicles to make up for the amount you can put out. A Land Raider looks like it will have 4 and it is one of the most Heavily Armored Vehicles in the game. A Leman Russ will probably have 2 especially considering you can squadron them.
Allies are going to have a Level of Commitment this is Confirmed Its just not sure who is Bros with who yet. I think its going to be like how they did it in the Doubles Tournament list people seen floating around. Brothers in Arms are going to basically just fit right in. Examples would be Space Marines with Black Templar both are Space Marines and both fighting for the Emperor.
Allies of Convenience has been confirmed this would be like Space Marines and Eldar or Space Wolves and Dark Angels. They will fight together because they both have a greater hate for the foe but have a known History of dislike for each other.
The third is most likely an Unholy Alliance Space Marines with Necrons that in fact it has a huge disadvantage such as a Mandatory Point cost or a reduction in some stat like Leadership for the allied force.

Marine xenophobia is dependent on the chapter, Ultramarines for example have fought alongside the Tau more then any other chapter. Other chapters won't fight alongside xenos no matter what. Thats also part of the fun of creating your own chapter/fluff.
As mentioned there will most likely be different "classes" of allies, and I honestly don't believe you will see any Marine players taking Necron allies in competitive tournaments because its just too risky. If anything IG or GK will be the #1 ally choice for marines, they have good units and are way more "trustworthy".
I believe ally slots are restricted to one of each FOC, so I think this will limit abuse. Your not gonna see a Marine army with 9 crisis suits thats for damn sure lol.
Tyranids are the only race that can't take allies unless its other tyranids. It looks like if you ally with your own faction then you receive an extra slot for each FOC. "Excuse me sir, can I order 3 Hive Tyrants and 4 Carnifexes with extra butter and mayo?" Yes please haha
This is what it looks like based on rumors, past rules, GW website, and the latest White Dwarf. We will know everything for sure in 6 days. Can't wait! 8)

Is it bad that my major complaint with the 6th ed rule book has nothing to do with the rules in it but that it's not spiral bound? That's the main reason I file away the hard cover after I get the mini, it's just to hard to thumb through a hard cover book. It's just hard to hold and mark pages for quick reference. When they did the latest how to paint book in spiral form I was really hopeful that the next rulebook would be spiral too.

Alex Moon here is your devine opritunity to make Gabriel Angelos allied with eldar! :p
-
Ok I can see marines allying with Xenos that can be "reasoned with" Dark Eldar Orks, Necrons and Tyrinids usualy dont wish to listen to what a company captain has to say in order for them to work together.

Has there been any word on if Apoc is going to be updated to work with 6th edition? I've never played an apoc game but have dreams to one day play a massive Apoc battle............
-
we have no word as of yet but I am hopeful that with 6th the separate apocalypse books will be useless.

Just from someone new to apocolypse they are confusing as hell, the sheer amount of books and updatesBut i imagine a LOT is going to be useless or need a faq, with this new hull point system the NEED an update
Doesnt really seem fair that a landraider is going to have more hull points than a bainblade does now, hopefuly FW will start updating the mech in all the IA books

A rumor from a while back mentioned something about the new edition addressing the super heavies and gargantuan guys in some respect. Here's hoping.
-
oh man in normal games of 40k santioned super heavies will be so sweet.

Sanctioned FW models would make me so excited. If only for the chaos it create. CHAOS!
-
i hope marines get to use thunder hawks ;D
-
I hope that crap stays to apoc games. Sanctioned FW models cool super heavies screw that.
-
I dont fear super heavies thats why the Emperor invented the Las Cannon

Its not that bad, you just have to watch out for certain types of model, like a 2500 pt walker. But a single <800 pt device isn't that awful.

I would love to be able to drop my Stompa in a normal game.

I would love to be able to drop my Stompa in a normal game.
I played against one in a 2500 point game. My terminators wet their pants and couldn't assault it.
The rest of the game, my marines were running and hiding from it.
The game ended with a nigh untouched stompa hunting 4 individual marines. Their squads were wiped to almost a man.
Considering it was my terminator captain (Tyberos), a multimelta marine, a bolter marine and a sergeant w/ power weapon, it was the most epic game I've played in years.

We need a "like" button on these forums, that sounds like such an awesome game.

If they make Super Heavies a part of the Force Org, in terms of how many slots of each category they take up, and somehow scale it so that the amount of structure points to slot choice balance out, I don't think it would be a problem.
That being said, I'd keep those kinds of games on a more friendly level, than competitive anyway. Guess we'll find out this weekend. ::)

You mean along the lines of instead of fielding a squad of 3 leman russ you can instead field a single baneblade?

Something like that, sure. I know out of the Battle Missions book, there's a mission for Space Marines, where they're allowed to bring a Thunderhawk. The Thunderhawk takes up 1 Fast Attack, 1 Elite, and 1 Heavy Support choice in that mission. Only caveat to bringing one is that, once it's destroyed, the Space Marine player that brought it loses the game. Contingencies similar to that, I wouldn't be opposed to as well. Again, it's all about balancing the elements of the game.

That sounds like alot of fun. I haven't gotten to use him yet, but I still think it would be cool to bring it in. It is the Ork Land Raider.

I would gladly make those sacrifices to use my Thunder Hawk :p even though it would means ide loose every game cause the dang thing would get blown up.
