Title: In what comes as a bit of a surprise....
Post by: Chase on June 25, 2012, 01:06:35 PM
...GW has filled ALL of my preorder requests on the two special edition books!

If (and only if) you placed a preorder with me for a Collector's or Gamer's Edition book, you WILL be able to pick it up on Saturday.

If you placed a preorder for the normal rulebook or any of the other new products you'll be able to pick it on Saturday also, but that's not much of a surprise.

:)

Yaus!   I will certainly collect my collector's edition from you on Saturday?

Now the only question is, what time do you open?

And I'll be up on Saturday as well, to get my gamer's edition and to hang out for a bit.  Screw work.  I work every Saturday, the one time I want one off they tell me they might not beable to let me off.  I'm just going to call in sick if I can't get it off.

Hey, they removed the Collector's edition from the GW website already.

Awww YEEEEEAhhhhhh.

I'm surprised it took that long before they were sold out.  I was guessing 2 days at the most.

As of 5:06pm the gamers edition is now off the GW website.
Title: Re: In what comes as a bit of a surprise....
Post by: Chase on June 25, 2012, 06:10:15 PM
Yeah.... So I just got off the phone with GW.  They have told me that I might not get ANY of the "special edition" books after all.

He is going to call me back tomorrow to let me know "for real."

Awesome how I get told, "You're all set" at 11am and at 5pm it's a completely different story.

I can't express how irritated I am right now.

If I don't get my Collector's Edition after Everything Chase went through I will go to Games-Workshop and Perform My People's Native Dance there in Protest.

GW is so rude. I was discussing that instance with Derrek in person the other night. We buyers that want to support the store will have to order direct?! Thats bull crap I wans to pay where I play and I dont play in some GW hobby store I play at BG

At this point it's an issue of getting my player's what they want, like I was told I was going to be able to do.

That putts you and Derrek in a bad place GW is once again screwing indipendent retailers. I remember when they set up a triangle formation around another store and the guy is now gone. Gw plays dirty pool.

Just got off the phone with GW...

...

...

"Your order is still showing as being processed.  I can't say what you're getting for sure yet."

This is probably the WORST thing he could have told me.  I need to know what I'm getting so I can either breath a giant sigh of relief OR get in touch with everyone who ordered a special edition book, ask them if they want a regular one instead, and ORDER THAT SHIT BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE TO GET IT FOR THE WEEKEND!!

Now I'm just in limbo waiting to hear wtf is going on.

Awesome.
Title: Re: In what comes as a bit of a surprise....

I would suggest everyone who wants one should probably direct order it.  If you DO get some chase, I am sure that they will move sooner rather than later.

That is Chase's worst nightmare, amiright?

Actually, you CAN'T direct order the special editions anymore anyway.  GW took them off the website (sold out?).

Title: Re: In what comes as a bit of a surprise....
Post by: Chase on June 26, 2012, 04:23:21 PM
So here's the deal...

I will be able to fill EVERYTHING BUT 1 Collector's Edition across both stores.

In exchange for the 1 Collector's Edition we were not sent, they are sending me 5 more Gamer's Editions.  This is by accident, mind you.

Games Workshop charged Battleground 3 times for 3 different orders, none of which exactly correct.  :)  The results were:

Plainville was sent 4 fewer Collector's Editions than requested and 1 fewer Gamer's Editions than requested.

Abington was sent 3 more Collector's Edition's than requested and 6 more Gamer's Editions.

We need to do a bit of shuffling on Friday night it seems.

Now, if anyone would like to forgo their Collector's Edition and "trade down" to a Gamer's or a normal book, please let me know.  If not, I will take care of it and all customers will end up with what they've asked for.

If you would like to claim one of the 5 extra Gamer's Editions, let me know ASAP.  I will do what I can to get you one of them.

That actually worked out pretty smooth if all they shorted you was 1 collector's edition.  I have no doubt those extra gamer's editions will be sold very quickly...  Something tells me that on Saturday people are going to see how amazingly awesome the gamer's edition is and want to upgrade  LOL

EDIT:  See see see!  I told you they would go fast!

We will not.

If I were going to be around I would have done a midnight release thing late Friday night, but I made plans to go away for the weekend before I knew the release date.  :(

Post by: Chase on June 27, 2012, 07:51:05 PM
With that said, it might be worth giving Matt a call on Friday night to see when he'll be closing.  Friday Night Magic does tend to go late, so if he's still open at midnight he is allowed to sell the book.

Please don't keep him here late though, the guys have a busy weekend ahead of them.

As for me... Well... I'll be riding jet skis and laying on the beach! :D

For the record, we have been specifically instructed NOT to do this.

GW normally does not care if we break "street dates" on normal releases / products.  They historically HAVE been strict with respect to their new edition launches though.  This time around is no exception.

12:00am Saturday (late Friday night) is a different story.

That said I don't mean to harass you before you go but has all the Collector's Edition stuff been sorted already?
Title: Re: In what comes as a bit of a surprise....
Post by: Chase on June 28, 2012, 12:40:16 AM
Sorted?  Yes, if you mean what I think you mean.

Right now the plan is to hope the random amounts of books they're sending to the two stores over three different shipments ends up totaling the amount they said it would.  At that point we need to shuffle the books to their correct location for Saturday.

This only matters if you're getting one of the two different special edition books.

Chase, while you and your team have been instructed not to sell early are you allowed to read it early?  Seems like at least one person per store should read the rulebook before Saturday.  Can only imagine how crazy the first game will be if nobody has read the book yet.

What's crazy is trying to make an army list when you don't know what the new rules will hold.  I usually skip out on an astropath.. but something I seen in the WD makes me want to take one this time.  I think he might come in handy.

I'm taking a Deathwing list. The same one I ran in 5th. Whatev. This ruleset will be around for awhile, and I'm not astute enough to game a system that's not even in place yet.

Anyone else notice that the servo skull tape measures are now listed on the GW website as new releases?  Will there be any coming in the shipments today for sale tomorrow?  I know last word on the dice packs and the tape measure was that they were delayed indefinitally.

EDIT:  And did the shipments come in?  Hmmm?  Hmmm?  Can't wait for tomorrow!

Well...

I've got good news and I've got bad news.

All standard items have arrived and they are available for sale on Saturday.
Standard items include:
40K 6th Edition Rulebooks
Munitorum Templates
Munitorum Tape Measures
40K Psychic Power Cards

The BAD news:

It looks like the Collector's Edition books and the Gamer's Edition Sets will NOT be arriving for the weekend. My FedEx delivery link says the following:

IMPORTANT!
Tropical Depression Debby remnants and Colorado wildfires are causing service delays in Florida, Georgia and Colorado.
Initiated Picked up In transit Delivered
Arrived at FedEx location
OLIVE BRANCH, MS
  Shipment Dates
Ship date    Jun 28, 2012
Estimated delivery    Jul 3, 2012

Obviously, this is going to disappoint a large number of people at both locations. GW is entirely at fault for this (I literally don't know what they were thinking). At this point, we'll do the best we can to accommodate people, but my hands are pretty tied. There's nothing I can do to make the special edition books arrive any sooner.

I'm so disappointed that our players who ordered the higher quality books will be forced to wait extra days for their items, and we apologize on behalf of Games Workshop for this top to bottom mess. At the very least, there will be plenty of books being opened and available for us to play and begin learning the rules.

If you have any questions, e-mail me at derek@battlegroundgames.com

One possible solution that we can try to do is that anyone who ordered a Gamers' Edition could take a 40K rulebook so they'll have it to read over the weekend and then we can just remove the rulebook from the Gamers' Edition when it actually comes in.

Obviously, there's no good solution for those who ordered a Collector's Edition book. :(
