So I have a quick wargear question. If you equip a leader with a piece of wargear does it work for the whole squad:
Example: Fire Warrior leader can take a blacksun filter that allows him to see double what is rolled for night sight distance. Do the other warriors get to use this or just the leader?
If the others can use it can someone point me to where in the rule book where that is supported?
Thanks

Unless it is specifically stated that the wargear benefits the whole squad then it will only effect the model that has purchased it.

The Tau codex was written for 4th edition.
How night fighting works is now different.
In the case of the Black Sun Filters it is confered on the group now.
So you decided to go Tau?

it was changed in the errata check the gw website for the tua faq

@Gundam: yup..Tau it is..all though not my favorite models, they are cool, getting a revamp soon, and they have the fighting style that fits what I want...long mobile range.
Where is the FAQ does it say the wargear benefits the entire squad? Or is that part of the night vision rule?
-
Some USRs are applied if one member of squad has it, like preferred enemy. However with black sun filter you might have to check the Tau FAQ since night fight has changed and you no longer have to roll for night fight distance.

As far as I understood it, if the HQ has it then it confer.
Page 26 – Armoury, blacksun filter.
Replace this entry with: “A model equipped with a blacksun filter has the Night Vision special rule”.

I looked up night vision in the rule book...it says as long as one model has night vision all models in his group can ignore night fighting rules

Awesome! I'll have to remember that next time I was not using it on my second broadside

Many (most) special rules in the BRB are "contagious" -- if one model has it they all have it.
