Title: opinions on Inquisitors?
Post by: Grand Master Steve on April 01, 2013, 03:37:32 PM
Im curious on others opinion on the rules for an Inquisitor. I have a nice land raider for an Inquisitor but I dont want to take grey knights just to use one. Any one find it weird that a person with the highest authority of the Imperium cant get an invulnerable save? I want to model an Inquisitor but I woul dnever be able to use him. I was hoping they make a Codex: Inquisition that can ally with any imperial force and does not force a player to take Knights.

Nothing's really stopping you from taking an inquisitor model and proxying him for whatever Marine HQ you want, as long as the wargear lines up.

Or do what I do and Take a Melleus Inq in TA with a Psycannon and Divination!!

Yum...  Oh ya and there you go with an Invul save!

I've been considering for a while to have an inquisitor + retinue for my Carcharodons. Preferably as cheap as possible and mostly just to represent the inquisitor who was vouching for Tyberos and chapter during the Badab war.

EDIT:

I would not do a counts as but use an actual Inquisitor from GK codex. They are T3 (normal humans) and I personally think it makes all the difference. Also, there are lots of humorous modelling possibilities of PA or even TA on a normal human.

My point exactly. I would want to use an actual Inquisitor. "Counts as" doesnt cover his huge retinue options

I have had great luck with a Terminator Inquisitor and a Xenos Inquisitor with Grenades.

For the Terminator, I used a 2nd Edition Grey Knight terminator.  He's smaller than the current sculpt and his armor looks more baroque.  For the Xenos, I have an old chaplain model that had a lot of purity seals on it.

That's really the henchmen.  People do take them but usually only in certain layouts.  Acolytes are usually only taken naked for cheap 4 pt troops.  DCA and crusaders are common in SR and LRs.  Some people take a banisher to mess up demons.  Some people take Jokaero or plasma servitors for a firing base, usually twin-linked with divination.  ANything else is pretty rare.

i really want to make a Xenos theamed Inquisitor but it wont do much good with out an invul save if he has a poisioned weapon in addition to making plasma weapons not work around him
