Title: BloodBowl!!!!
Post by: Barengor on April 10, 2009, 09:56:55 AM
Ok BloodBowl fans!

Its time again to try and get this going again. It has been brought up among a few of the old commisoners to formulate a strategy to get a league going.

We need to know who has boards and dice sets?

On Zombie night please let Cary or John know of your interest and what you might be able to contribute as far as boards and dice to get this going.

Cary, will Monday (20APR09) be good for you for a game?  Depending on the time of your arrival, Pat and I might try to get a game of War At Sea in beforehand.

Don't have a team, or rember all the rules, but I'd love to play. It's been afew years, but I loved this and would love to play again. Maybe not be part of the league, but if I could get afew games in and borrow a team that'd be great. Thanks.

I could help makinging a feild too, if need be.

Um...keep your big guys of my line of scrimage!

Thanks John I had a blast dusting off both games the other night, Im sure Adrian will be glad you tried panzergrenadier too. More the merrier.

It would be nice to get a Blood Bowl league going. Ill probably have more fun playing Humans since they can have a running and passing game too. Count me in playing them. Hopefully readers will post their teams that are ready and we can kick this off in a couple weeks.

Thanks for putting up with me!   :-[  Panzergrenadier was fun.

Count me in for the league.  I also have a Human team fully painted.  I also have a Chaos team with a few models painted.

A friend of mine is interested in the league and would participate.  When are you thinking of starting the league?  What night of the week would it be held on?  What rules set will be used?

I heard there will be a rules update out soon.

Erg.  Damn you guys, now I need to get into another game.

Right now I'm deciding between Khemri or Necromantics for my team.  Hm.

John,

I wanted to keep it free form with a limit on matches per week, but could be any day. Mondays and Wednesday could be "League Nights" to try and gather. I would hope we could make it through to a playoff day.

I was hoping you could co-comission the league with me. Also means you need to get you a ref figure. Next time we get together we should scour the league resources and set down as to what league rule sets we will use and the format.

I will be fielding a human team. I have an extra painted Orc and another Human team complete with star players, staff, and big guys for use if needed for someone looking to get into the game.

I would want to put a fee into the league. I was hoping we could get enough to get store credit up maybe with the stipulation if it hit $75 the league winner would be able to get a free copy of the core game.

I will co-commission the league with you; all I need is a copy of the updated rules.  Also, I was looking for a ref figure, but didn't find any on the GW site.

I'm planning on being at BG on Wednesday (29APR09), we can talk then if you are available.

Did you want to start the league mid to late May?  That will give people time to play some games to get used to the rules and to paint their teams.

I'll play either Humans (fully painted) or Chaos (partially painted).

Bring your Blood Bowl too!  I'll bring my FoW!

Found a ref in the GW 2009 Specialist Games Catalogue on the GW site.

We were doing the kick-off wrong according to the rules on the site.  Place the ball, roll a d8 for direction and a d6 for distance.  It will bounce once.

We need to paint our balls!!  I'm thinking brown with a couple of white stripes and gunbolt metal for the spikes!  ;D

Sure, painting the balls would be great!

The above link takes you to the Officially sponsered NAF site for Bloodbowl International.

I have the rules for the alternate balls including the rules for the spiked ball that comes in the box set.

Spiked BloodBowl Balls

Passing
Make a second agility roll with a +1 Modifier, If the test is failed the catcher takes a block with a strength equal to:
Quick Pass: 2
Short Pass:3
Long Pass: 4
Long Bomb: 5
If knocked down the ball scatters as normal and a turnover occurs, if not it is still caught and play continues.

As a Weapon

(1)Pass it to the enemy and it causes a block similiar to above with the following differences:
Quick Pass: 5
Short Pass: 4
If not knocked down the player can attempt to catch the ball at a -2 causing a turn over if caught.
(2) Use it as a hend held weapon giving the carrier a +1 to his strength score when throwing a block.

Always thought these where fun when used

Are the rules that you have the same as the ones on the GW site?

5.0 Living Rulebook
Title: Re: BloodBowl!!!!
Post by: Rob S on April 24, 2009, 03:20:49 PM
Well, for me it came down to a decision between Goblins and Khemri.  After looking in the rulebook and seeing that Goblins were a team for a more "advanced player", I decided to go Khemri.  I'll be ordering it from BG today, so hopefully should have it by the end of next week.

So, is that a yes for a game or are your Humans cowering behind their Ogre?

Are the rules on the GW Specialist Games site the 5.0 Living Rulebook?

If not, where can I find them.

   John

Thats a yes we feel like killing a chaos ogre or minotaur! You want to keep him on your roster keep him on the bench!

The living rule book is found on the resources site on the main GW site. Newest edition is still 5.0 and is the basis for the future video game as well.

Rick,
Want to have a practice game against my Chaos?  I'm still working on the build of my team.  I'm planning on Monday (04MAY09) as the next day at BG.

Doug, thanks for the copy of the 5.0 Rulebook.  I've got to update what I remember of the rules from when I played years ago.

Cary, thanks for the game of BB and FoW.  Glad you forgot your dice!!  ;D

Anytime John glad I could help. Let's hear it for work printers from my wife haha. Now I just need to get some reading done so I can play. :) I rember some of it while I watched, but a 2 minute drill is alot harder to follow when it's been afew yrs since you played the game.

Red Dice of Doom!

What John? I used the same dice you did this last game and you used mine in the previous match
The dice are not the reason one wins...
Its the tactics, strategy and the ability to adapt to each move your opponent makes. (counter for every counter move)

Interestingly enough the humans still scored a casualty/injury, multiple KOs, and scored two touchdowns to win the game. (One on a turn over and one on a successful pass play.)
Title: Re: BloodBowl!!!!

I believe its the "technique" you use when rolling dice!  ;D
Title: Re: BloodBowl!!!!
Post by: Barengor on May 01, 2009, 06:05:20 PM
The fact that mine roll, spin and jump arround for a long time to make sure its random? Beats your throw drop and plop.

Title: Re: BloodBowl!!!!
Post by: Commissar Grey on May 01, 2009, 09:40:46 PM

Waiting for them to stop spinning takes longer than me taking a turn!!!

Ok so did the Norse pound the chaos team into the ground with all that BLOCKing?
Seemed you where doing pretty well even when they hit you Rick before I left.
Title: Re: BloodBowl!!!!
Post by: ThePenanceStare on May 05, 2009, 08:51:22 AM
No John won 2-0. I did try to use my blocking though, plus he got his rerolls at the right time. Still some basic themes of the game I need to work out and get to know. The 2 minute clock helped and hindered.
Title: Re: BloodBowl!!!!
Post by: Commissar Grey on May 05, 2009, 10:00:21 PM

The Chaos team did alright.  The Norse are a tricky bunch to deal with; too many players with Block.  We got Pouring Rain for weather for the duration of the game.  Lots of dropped balls when trying to pick it up on both sides.
I agree, the two minute clock runs out too fast!!

Well for the mighty Vamps vs Skaven match, 3 Vamps ended up in the Dead and Injured box but sadly it remained a 0-0 Tie. Stupid Rat Ogre kept falling on his snout after he ate a Thrall, I think it was indigestion. Other than that not much off the top of my head.
