How do they work exactly? Do you get all the listed abilities under a chapter or just one of the selection?
-
Each chapter gets special rules that always apply to that chapter. The exception is Ultramarines that get 3 one time use abilities. They are pretty sweet and play to each chapters character. Also note that you can ally with another SM chapter.
-
Chapter Tactics work that you pick a Chapter and all the Tactics apply to everyone in your army that has the Chapter Tactics rule. You get all of them listed under that Chapter. Example Iron hands everyone gets the Feel No pain at 6+ and All the Vehicles and Multi wound models get It will not Die.

thanks!

Why not ally with Ultramarines for Tigerius? Seems like a no brainer

Pat I think you might have read that wrong here guy :\
The way that the new rules work out is that you have Detachment Ultramarines. Everything in that detachment benefits from that tactic, while models in your other detachment (say Ultrasmurfs and Iron Hands) benefit from your secondary attachment rules. You can have models that have the Smurf tactics or Iron Hand tactics, but no model may have both(except maybe master of the forge?)

I do understand it works that way. Rereading what I put I explained it horribly. Thanks moosifier for clearing it up.

I want to note that mostly, only the infantry have "chapter tactics" and benefit from their respective rules, the vehicles don't.

Unless your Iron Hands MUHAHHA
