Title: Infinity
Post by: MWhite on March 05, 2014, 07:33:47 PM
Hey guys and gals.

I just signed up with the Warcor for Corvus Belli, the company that makes the game Infinity. I am in the process of putting together some small forces and I would like to start running demos. I'm just pinging the BG community to see if there is nay interest.

Thanks
Matt

A couple starters and some terrain is coming soon, if I can find them!

It's a good time to introduce the community to new-to-us miniatures!

It's definitely happening.

Hey Chase, put me down for a Nomad Starter. I am already painting a Yu Jing starter box, that way I have two small factions to run demos with. I am also working on building my terrain collection for it. I have walls, cat walks, and a few buildings. Once I have everything ready, I'll be happy to run some demo games.

Hey Matt, I'm an old Infinity player from back in the day.. Been at least 2-3 years since I've thrown some D20s.  I'm up for grabbing a game or two, would love to see some interest in the game around here.

I'm local to Plainville, but could make it out to Abington for special occasions, haha.

Excellent. I am pretty much exactly the same distance between both stores. I am in the process of building my terrain for the game, so I should be ready to throw down soon.

Awesome.  A buddy and I actually have a pretty extensive terrain collection already for this game, we have a Yu Jing city table and an African Savannah table.

I can't find any pictures of the city at the moment, but this was the savannah:

I wanted to add a few buildings to it to make it a bit more playable.  Although we treated the bushes as cover, it was still tricky to figure out line of sight sometimes.

Anyway, I can bring this stuff down to Plainville if you are up for throwing down before your terrain is complete.

Is anyone playing this game? I am interested but would like to see a game played before deciding.  I just started going to the Plainville store.

I know this thread is a little old but I have been averse to trying Infinity but with the new starter set I wouldn't mind a demo.

I may be able to go through a demo with you, but it would likely be next week, Wednesday August 6th would be the first chance I could do it.

Anyone still interested in this?

I think the rules look great and the game play really quickly.

Just wondering if Plainville has terrain for this game?

I still have interest in the game, the 3rd edition rules are coming out soon, and a starter set Operation Icestorm, gonna end up getting that as soon as it's out.

If people in planeville started playing, I would definitely be interested.  I have been looking at a PanO Military Orders boxed set for quite some time.  I have been pretty close to picking up just to paint since they look awesome.

there was some talk about this last night, seems legit and not terribly expensive. I'd try a game and consider painting up a force.

Resistance is futile! Brain and I are all in for it, and that's one more possibly interested party. Anyone else...?

Brain, I actually have a copy of Icestorm if you'd like to take a poke thru it.  I can't come down on Thursday, but is there another night that works for you?  Tuesday maybe?

I actually won't make it next Thursday, so another day might be good for me too. Also, sorry Michaud but you have me confused me with someone else... Don't know what "Dorka" is.

I can't this coming Tuesday but the week after, also during the weekend next week?   I would really like to see the Operation Icestorm set, as I have only seen it on Pictures.

I can do that Tuesday, 10/21.  Icestorm is awesome, the minis are insanely good even by normal Infinity standards.  Scenery is cool, it is a really well put together box.

Last night was a good time! I really enjoyed the demo games we played, thanks to Michaud for helping me and Brain out. Any thoughts on availability for next time? For me, Saturdays (though not the next few) and Mondays tend to be pretty open.
Title: Re: Infinity
Post by: Michaud on October 22, 2014, 06:00:19 PM
Glad to hear you had fun! I had a blast as well, thanks to both you and Brain for coming down.

I remember both of you did have some questions about the starters, and I don't think I described them very well.  They generally come with 3 of your basic line troops (you'll use these in most games you'll play), a straightforward heavy infantry, and 2 more specialized infantry (Camo, Infiltrating, Drop Troops).

All of the models in the starter sets are useful.  There aren't any truly unplayable units in the game, nor are there any "must take" units.  Instead each just presents a different tool for your list, depending on what you want to take.

For me, I can do some Saturdays (not all, and definitely not the next few), maybe a Monday here or there.  Tuesdays are pretty good too.

As far as next time, I could do this upcoming Monday or Tuesday (10/27, 10/28).

It was a good time Tuesday.   I finally got my Email confirmation of shipping about Operation Icestorm, should have it by Monday, at least that is what UPS is saying.  Hopefully it's true.  I am open for whenever, if I have any conflict I will post up, but as of right now any day would work Starting next week.

Hello,

What is the general meeting day and time for games?  I have Aleph and Combined Army stuff for ~300 points each.  Would love to learn how to play and get some games in soon!  Possibly build a community in Plainville (or cross-stores).

Thanks,

As of right now we are still trying to work out a regular schedule, we are meeting up this Monday 10/27 at 7pm in Plainville.  Alpharius? and I are straight up new to the game, I should be getting the Starter set Monday just in time to take it and bust it out.

Michaud was gracious enough to let us try out the first two Missions in the Operation Icestorm set last Tuesday, and it was an awesome time.  Hopefully you can make it, and if not just keep checking this thread as we will be trying to make it a regular thing and hopefully nail down a week day.

EDIT:   I just realized that if I get the box in on Monday, I still won't be able to play it since the figures are not assembled   lol   oh well, I will take it in anyways.

Not going to be able to make it down tonight, but I will 100% be up for either Monday or Tuesday next week.

Well my plan to show up early was a bust, Dinner ended up taking longer to prep and make than expected.  But a great time was had nonetheless.  The Second game was won by me due to kill points, it was a buzzer finish by killing his Mobile Brigada that was holding an Objection Point, A Sniper, Fusilier and Father Knight all took shots to finally take away that last wound during the 4th turn.  My Sniper was in a great position and was able to land hits and take out a large part of the Nomads force.

I keep mine rolled up in a document tube so it curls a bit in there, but after a few minutes of being out of the tube it flattens fine.  The mat in the previous pics (http://www.battlegroundgames.com/forum/index.php?topic=7604.msg65594#msg65594) is the result.

I will be there as well.

Alpharius, I'd also suggest bringing along a 300 pt "vanilla" list to mess around with (proxies are fine).  For the mission based games there just aren't enough orders at the smaller points levels to get anything accomplished.

Brain and I played a 300 point version of the last Icestorm mission and were going to test out the YAMS mission system this week.

I am missing tonight, going to finish taking some meds to get rid of this flu feeling I've been harboring.  I don't want to make it worse nor get anyone sick.

Hey guys!

It looks like the tentative ship date for the new 3rd edition book is December 8th. Not sure what that means since they left it a bit open ended, but here's hoping they keep the date.

This is another reason I love Infinity. because of all their partner companies producing terrain, they make it possible to create some of the most beautiful and detailed game boards.

http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/computer-screens-multi-pack.html

They even sell generic vehicles that have no other game value than to be cover for your mini's. Nothing says details like being able to cover your board with a bunch of space Prius.

Was able to get a hold of some Foamboard from the dollar store, going to make some Buildings and small containers.  I am going to use a 2"Hx6"L for long sides of Buildings and 2"Hx4"L for the short side (maybe even vary around sizes in that range to make different ones), with a 1/2" or 1/4" Roof Border for cover, depending on which one looks better.  Maybe some 1 1/2"Hx2"L squares for Containers.  I am also thinking of putting up my GoPro and taking pictures of the progress once I get started.

Hi Guys, long time lurker.....first reply.  I am extremely interested in learning to play Infinity.  I currently have Operation Icestorm, a Pano Military Order starter with an Aquillain Guard and few random Ariadna. Unfortunately., I am absolutely clueless and have yet to play even a single scernio from Icestorm. Are you guys open to new players? Willing to run either a demo or guide me through a few scernios from Icestorm. I cam make it tuesday night no problem and I am also available all day Saturday if anyone wants to get a game in this weekend......thanks in advance, Brian

Hey Brian! You've come to the right place; we're most of us pretty new players ourselves and our resident veteran (Michaud aka Mark) has been showing us the ropes as well. I definitely plan to be around on Tuesday and I'd be happy to play through some scenarios with you. It'll be nice to add a fourth to our little group. Escalation league anyone...?

Edit: Slipped my mind - I won't be around THIS Tuesday but usually I am... I'm sure one of the other chaps would be happy to play with you. If you want to get extra games in too, I can be available weekday afternoons.

Hey Brian, Definitely Join us on Tuesday night.  Like Alpaharius? said, we are pretty new to the Infinity game as well.  Michaud has been very patient with my slow learning  lol.  One of the best ways to learn the basics has been the Icestorm scenarios.  The new Rulebook, N3, should be releasing sometime this month (hopefully) and then we can get into the more complicated rules of this awesome game.   If you can make it Tuesday night we can definitely go through the scenerio games.

just to clarify, which store does each of you frequent? I myself almost always got to the Abington store, though I am equidistant between Abington and Plainville. I think it will help people connect with each group.

Alpharius? Michaud and I meet at the Plainville Store on Tuesday Nights around 7 or so, maybe later or earlier depending on who gets there first and traffic.

Hey Brian, replied to your PM.  Like Brain and Alpharius said, we meet in Plainville at 7, come on down!

As a side note, N3 has been released and is shipping out now.  Some lucky ducks (not me  :-[) have their copies already.

Real life is threatening to get in the way of hobby time. Not sure what time I will be able to get to Battleground. So long story short I don't want to anyone to waste their valuable hobby time waiting on me. Michaud, I truly appreciate your offer to run a demo game for me and I hope we can reschedule for next Tuesday?

Brian, unfortunately I am not going to be able to make it down for the next few weeks, life is getting in my way.  We'll find a Tuesday that will work for both of us after that.

Also, if I'm not able to make it down before then, both Alpharius and Brainvictim have also played through Icestorm.  I'm sure they would be happy to show you the ropes as well.

As far as I know Brainvictim and I will still be there at 7, so even if you can only pop in later, feel free to swing by and check out some live Infinity.

I do appreciate the post though, thanks for letting me know you might not make it down tonight.

Thank you as well, it was good times indeed.  Looking forward to getting some games in with the N3 rules as soon as they get shipped.  Going to look into some fusilier hackers now, I didn't like the disabling of the Jotum but it was fun to see how it works.   ;D

just a heads up to all the Abington players. I left an official Infinity vinyl play mat at the store. If anyone wants to use it feel free to. Just ask someone at the counter where they keep it. The store also has a pretty sizeable compliment of terrain to use as well. Just do me a favor and take it easy on the mat. ;)
