..the narrative event we had originally planned for the end of this month is going to be delayed again.
In other news, we will have a 6.5/7th edition launch day instead. Details to come, but it'll be on May 24th.
-
Hey Chase, I think the 24th is for preorders with the 31st being launch.. may want to confirm that first.
-
Good thing I haven't posted anything important yet!
Edit: Is there something specific leading people to think it'll only be up for preorder on the 24th?
I know nothing about it and have been told nothing as well (including the instruction to remove any books or products from the wall).
-
Also, I'd like to point how fucking stupid this is. How the hell can people plan a release event without knowing when the product is going to be released.
The teaser is bogus. Sometimes they list the preorder date, sometimes the list the actual date. No one knows which is which... So frustrating.
-
Lol sorry to hear.. all I know is that it's definitely a new edition, GW says so in the leaked WD pic from the other thread.
-
Why not give 6th a "no holes barred" send off?

You don't have a rep that gives you this info? At the Bunker they have a "GW Guy" they talk to once a week and he keeps them abreast of these kinds of things (which is good because they don't pay attention to the internet rumblings at all).

I would be stoked for a release event! Don't forget to reserve me a copy of 7th edition! :)

Man, why didn't Chase think of that? Chase maybe you should talk to a GW rep!
I wish I could exalt this! Here, have a metaphorical exalt!
-
Ah, classic. All I meant was, why doesn't the rep give this information, as opposed to having to go off teasers and rumored releases?
Our store talks to them every week for orders anyway so they have a relationship built with their rep and maybe it is just that they get to get some extra info because they're longtime (20+ year) clientele. I don't know (I *do* know that the rules for certain "special order only" stuff is bent for them because of that, though, so it's possible). Either way...nobody around my way is scouring Bell of Lost Souls for release dates in teaser videos. They get all their info from the rep.

I talk to GW at least once a week and have for the past lots of years. It works exactly the same as it does at the Hobby Bunker with a minor difference being that I do see a lot of what's spoiled or rumored on the internet and have dead end conversations with the reps about it.
These days the reps know so little, especially because a bunch of them were just promoted or let go and they've got a crop of new people in there.
I get weekly emails on Monday morning that tell me all of the products that go on sale two Saturday's from then, that's all. The reps often know literally nothing about those product at that point and tell me to "refer to the White Dwarf that ships this week." Other times they'll have seen / built the kit, but never know the rules.
And yeah, the reps can bend the rules for special order stuff for good accounts. It's happened for us quite a bit. They've recently changed the way we order "non-trade" items, and I expect those rules to be bent a lot less. (They've taken away the reps ability to place "special orders" entirely and are forcing us to use a slightly modified version of their webstore for all of that stuff. This change took place about 3 weeks ago.)

Amen Chase,
Battlegrounds is the GO TO shop in New England for all things wargaming and have been for years. There's a reason people drive from CT and NH to their events.
They also CARE about their customers more than any store I've seen and I've been watching battleground grow as an excellent retailer since 2006, when I moved back to MA from Ohio. They're not just a retailer, they're a family. My only regret is having moved to the Boston Area for work, and thus I don't get to visit them as much as I'd like to... My baby mama does live in Foxboro, so I do try to swing by on Saturdays, regrettably I don't get to heckle Chase, because I don't think he works on that day...
Anywho, when Chase knows, we'll know. At least he doesn't just try to give us waves of potentially inaccurate info like a lot of rumor sites do.
Keep fighting the good fight Chase!

The hobby bunker opened in 1998, how has it been "20+ years" ?

The Warp, obviously.

I know you are just trolling me, but I'll humor you anyway.
The Hobby Bunker was incorporated in 1997, yes, but they had a different business beforehand in another location (EDIT: Excaliber Hobbies, founded in the late 70s, I went and looked it up), and much of what we have there comes from that original store (the tables and terrain, particularly). The current owner worked there when he was younger, took it over from his father, and while he worked there he dealt with GW. There has been a long build in the relationship since the Rogue Trader days (which is why when we formed our club, there was enough of a backlog of old models that 2nd and 3rd Edition stuff was still on the shelves everywhere).
I have first-run boxes in the club area from the first sets of Terminators and Orks, given to us BY the store, as well as a copy of the original Rogue Trader that was pulled out of inventory from the back.
There is plenty more (like the fact that the tables we rebuilt in 2011 had dates written on them predating 1997...must have imagined those) but ehh. I'm sure you're 100% correct.

I know you are just trolling me because I told you not to come back, but I'll humor you anyway.
...
It isn't like, you know, you recently got caught lying and making up a bunch of garbage to antagonize an entire group of people there or anything.
It's very poor form to air your club's dirty laundry on another game store's forum.

Just for the record I dont know who Mike is nor do I care. Or maybe I do know him just not putting a face to a name.
However posting this here is neither appropriate or wanted. May think about editing your post to remove it we have enough drama here as it is and dont need inter club drama spilling here as well. A warning about a potential bad community member needs to be done in private and only to the TO's of events. The masses dont need to see it.
Third holy hell man you need to change the background and font after looking at I went blind for several moments before my eyes could adjust again.

While I can appreciate the concerns raised, I'm not going to edit my post. If someone else wants to, be my guest, but I'm not going to.
I'm not going to let myself be trolled, which is all this dude does -- on every website we mutually have accounts on, he is one of the fastest to reply to topics I post in, and here is no different. I don't care either way. This isn't DakkaDakka, and I'm not some guy halfway across the world -- we'll see each other again, and it's going to be really interesting when we do.
Either way, to me, this is just me making sure it is crystal clear the person calling me out on my facts is just looking to antagonize (Speaking of...I went and asked, and for the record, before the Hobby Bunker it was Excalibur Hobbies, incorporated in '77, carried GW stuff since the '80s. So yes, 20+ years).
-
Sometimes I can be a bit slow, is it the may 24th 3k event that has been cancelled?

I wasn't sure at first, but I think the 3k event on the 17th (in Abington) is still on!
-
3000 point event is on the 17th in Abington. It's still on.
The narrative event we've been talking about doing is not going to happen this month.

Yeah, sure it was. As opposed to your 100%, I guess.
