Title: Games Day Chicago 2009
Post by: StrategicCommand on August 02, 2009, 07:51:43 PM
So much has gone on in the last three months but I finally got a chance to go to a Games Day. I headed out to Chicago with my "Aqua Marines" and entered them in the "Armies on Parade" contest.

About 2500 people showed up for Chicago GD 2009 and I thought there were some great club tables and Golden Deamon submissions. 14 Armies were on Parade and there were some REALLY nice armies.

Mulitple Golden Demon Winner James Wappel aka Wappelious or however he spells it on coolminiornot and B&C, had an Inquistion Army.

The Owner of "Battle Foam" Mike Butcher had his Nurgle army. Amazing Nurgle green stuff and paint

Johnny Cash had a Warhammer Empire Army with a Great "Don Quixote" Giant Scuplt as the center peice (he's a local in the chicago area that plays the WHFB scene)

And then there were others.

Around 300 votes came in from the crowd.

James won "Best Painted"

Jonny won "Best Theme"

And my Aqua Marines took the prize with "Crowd Favorite"

There is place of deep thanks to all those who voted for me. The whole day I was talking about my conversions and my theme to a LOT of folks, it really got me thinking about what I am going to do next and really got my blood pumping when so many people told me they thought my army was AWESOME!

Oh and I was wearing my "Battleground Mega Battle 2009" shirt I had my picture taken and I hope it will get posted up on the GW site with my Army pics.

The army looks nice set up.  I can see why it got crowd favourite.

And nice for repping the store. :D

You didn't bring the Crab Tanks?  When I posted the pictures of the megabattle those got the most comments.

I did have my Titan and Crab tank out, but the display board I made was only big enough for my army and the drop ship.  There was on empty armies on parade slot next to me and since I was the first on there to set up I was allowed to keep it for my Titan and Crab tank :)
