forcing them into 0-1 of their efficient Synapse nodes makes it really tough.

Unfortunately, I had two Tyranid players choose not to play because the lists they wanted to bring involved lots of models they didn't own.

i missed the event for reasons completely unrelated to the format. i was looking forward to it and think tyranids would have done quite well. i can certainly see the issues with not owning the models though, several of the choices that would have been effective in this format are not common in standard lists.

That's interesting, and highlights how dependent Tyranids players are on having monsters in a regular list. Tyranid warriors and genestealers almost never see standard tourney play, but would be popular in an event like this one.
