General Rules
• Armies will be built in steps in the amount of 500 points per Week. The deadline will be the Sunday of each week.
• All models must be painted to be fielded. No bare metal, primer-only models allowed. If a model is unpainted in time it may not be used, resulting in that player fielding less than the allocated point total! "Counts As" models are allowed for the duration of each point step. For example, a Plasma Pistol may "Count As" a bolt pistol for the 500-point level, but must be WYSIWYG by the 1000-point deadline.
• Rosters may change between games at each points-level step as new models are painted; The same models from the 500-point list do not have to be fielded in every game until the 1500-point deadline, for example.
500 Points
• The 500-point army uses the “40K in a Flash” Rules, below:
• Armies must include one Troops choice from the appropriate army list.
• No vehicles may have an armor value of greater than 33 (Front + Side + Rear).
• Other than the one compulsory Troops choice, the points may be spent from anywhere in the appropriate Codex using the Standard Force Organization Chart. Prerequisite Rules must be followed, however (needing a Priest to field Arco-Flagellants in a Witch Hunters list, for example).
• Games played at the 500-point level will be played using the Combat Patrol Mission on page 183 of the Warhammer 40,000 Rulebook.
1000 - 3000 Points
• The remainder of each 500-point block level will be constructed using the standard Warhammer 40,000 rules, and the Standard Force Organization Chart. There are no restrictions on Characters, Vehicles, etc, except as noted in the Warhammer 40K Codices (most Special Characters may only be fielded in an army of 1500 points or more, for example).
• Games will be determined randomly, as per the Warhammer 40,000 Mission Selection Rules.
• Remember, only fully painted models are allowed. If there are insufficient painted models available to reach a specific point block deadline, the player plays only with painted models, and may therefore have a "short" army list. Get painting!
Point System
• The point system will be as follows:
o A win will be worth 20 points.
o A tie will be worth 10 Points
o A loss will be worth 0 points
• There will be a maximum of 4 games a week that can be played all points will then be added and averaged for the week; in addition each additional game after the first will earn the player 1 extra point added to their average. Example: Player 1 has played 3 games this week he has won 2 and lost 1 (all remainders will be averaged up): 20+20+0 = 40 which is then divided by 3 = 14. 14 is the players’ average for the week but in addition he played 2 extra games which then brings his weekly total to 16.
Additional Rules
• You may not play the same player twice in the same week.
• A player may challenge anyone within 15 points of their score. If the case arrives that a player has no one within 15 points then the next closest player may be challenged.
• After week 6 will be the finals where the top 4 players will battle each other in a free for all battle.
Schedule
• Week 1 – Jan 4th – 500 points
• Week 2 – Jan 11th – 1000 points
• Week 3 – Jan 18th – 1500 points
• Week 4 – Jan 25th – 2000 points
• Week 5 – Feb 1st – 2500 points
• Week 6 – Feb 8th – 3000 points
• Week 7 – Feb 15th – 3000 point Finals – Top 4 players battle for Supremacy

Troy, is there a night of the week that you will be encouraging people to show up and play / arrange games?
How do you plan to pair player's up each week? Will there be an order of who gets to challenge who?
Will there be any sort of penalty for players that arrange a game and fail to play it? What if one person shows up and the other one does not?
Was it your intention to have the store record the results of each game or was this something the players were going to handle themselves?
How / where did you intend to have players submit their army lists each week (by Sunday)? Here, on the boards?
I know you were looking for feedback as far as the entrance fee was concerned... Do you have a rough idea of what it might be?
Is it okay for people to email / PM you with any questions?
I'll post some more questions if they come to me.
-
Ok Chase here goes in order.
Monday will be the night to meet but games can ge played throughout the week, but Monday will be the overall day to gather.
Pairings will be based on challenges first come first serve is the order of the day. Remember you can play 4 games a week if you dont get to fight the person you want the first game grab them for another.
If a game is arranged by two people and one does not show up then is will count as forfeit and the player that showed will gain 15 points for that game. Also if there happens to be a legitimate reason for the person not showing up then the game is null and void and will need to be rescheduled.
I would like to put up a board at the store for all results to be recorded each player will have a spac eon the board.
Army lists will be submitted on these boards under the topic Winter War Army lists each week. Sunday is the cut off for submitting your list for the next week.
As of right now I am thinking $5 - $10 for the entry fee.
Email of PM any questions you may have or concerns, my email address is Rocksmacker@comcast.net

I am going to try to jump into this. I have never played at The Battlegrounds shop so i encourage everyone to let me win so I have a good experience!

"Other than the one compulsory Troops choice, the points may be spent from anywhere in the appropriate Codex using the Standard Force Organization Chart."
Does that mean after the one troop choice we no longer have use another, or do we need to fill up both troop choices before getting anything else?
-
yup, you could for example use one unit of gaunts from the nids codex and use the rest of your points on carnifexes if thats what your little heart desires.
Of course you would lack any form of synapse, but the question was what can you field. Not what should you field....
-
As that rule only applies to the 500 point games yes you can. All games after the 500 point mark will require a person to follow the standard force orginazation chart.
As stated in my other thread sorry for delay the holiday wasnt so kind to my computer. I will be in tonight to set up the roster and so on.
-
when was this going to kick off? Also did you decide on an entry fee??
-
The league will start Monday Jan 4th. All rosters can be submitted that day to me in person at the store or via new thread I will create.
Entry fee will be $10, this way we can ensure that there will be a nice prize at the end of the league and so on. Entry fee will be given to me on Monday and I will then work something out with Chase or Derrick to either hold the money or transfer it into a store credit voucher etc..
If for any reason a person can not come up with the entry fee by monday then I will allow either a 1 week delay. So for those who need it you have 2.5 weeks to come up with the entry fee.
ALL MONEY collected from entry fees goes towards the prizes at the end of the league.
-
What time on Monday, Troy?
-
Standard meeting time will be 7pm on Mondays. Battles can be fought earlier in the day or on other days as long as it is arranged before time.
Also if you miss a week and are unable to play a game then fear not you will stay in the league but will take 0 points for the week.
-
Is the roster you post the one you have to use for the entire week or are you able to modify it depending on your opponent?
-
Good question. The roster you post is the roster that you must play with for the week.
-
ATTENTION Warriors of the Battlegrounds.
The sign in roster has been posted in Battlegrounds next to the Warhammer 40k Plaque in the back of the store. Sign in as soon as possible to reserve your spot in the Winter War.
-
Question:
Can you use allies?
For example I will be running Imperial Guard and sometimes like to run my Demonhunters or Crimson Fists with them?
-
Standard Warhammer 40k allie rules will apply. So the Demon Hunters would be ok but the SM would be no.
-
I was told the rules had been changed to allow primed models. Is this the case? If not, I wouldn't be able too keep up with building and painting 500 points a week.
-
No rule change. But the rules have stated primed models are acceptable just no bare metal or plastic. We would like at least some color on the field even if it is just a solid one. And I agree with you it would be hard to keep up with 500 points a week of painting.
-
how did the first night go??
-
First night went real well and dont forget for those that could not make it monday arrange your games during this week.
-
Looked like a while bunch of fun, if I were rich enough to keep up with the increasing points I would totally be all over this.
I guess knowledge on how to play would be useful as well.
-
Its helps but not required. Just ask anyone who plays with me.
-
does anybody want to play me on friday or saturday?
-
Alright guys Bryan needs to get his game in, any takers unfortunatly I have been called into work on Friday night and saturday.
-
can anybody play a game on next friday or saturday? friday and saturday are the only days that I can go to BG
-
I can if our points are close enough to allow for a game.
-
Ian and Bryan because of the limitations there is no need to worry about the points. Hopefully I will be around to help with a game as well but if not no worries about the point spread for the game, main goal is to get them in.
-
Bryan,
Jeff will be joining the league but he unable to make Mondays so he is looking for a game on saturday before 1 pm. While both of you have 0 points for the first week this may be a good match up for the both of you.
Jeff will be posting later he is playing Tyranids.
-

My tervigon must have had some digestion issue's he managed to work out 32 gaunts against Rick today by the end of turn 4. New tyranids have some nasty potential! I'm waiting for the Trygon Prime 2x Mawloc army to come up
-
Make sure to post your results on the War board as soon as possible. I am putting together a mid war report and these totals.
-
Also for those who have not paid please due so. Lets ensure we are all paid up so we can move forward with finalizing the prizes for the Winter War.

We aren't actually a couple.
-
I know I met Ian's wife. But hes a good friend of yours and I didnt have a way to get in touch with you. Does this mean your are still in the War?
I hope so.
-
I should be around at 8:45-9:00 for possibly one fight.
-
It's all school dependent. I'm still in but my schedule stinks.
-
I should be able to be around the Battleground for matches on Wednesday (tomorrow) from 4-6:30, after which I have a D&D game to GM.
I can also be around on thursday but I have to leave at 7:45 sharp.
Friday is also possible, depending upon if someone will be there.
