Title: Armageddon: Chaos
Post by: jesterofthedark on November 03, 2008, 07:13:32 PM
Hey guys with three months and counting until the big game I figured I would just start two topics so the respective players can start discussing amongst themselves some plans of Data sheets and special characters that they want to bring.  You know get everyone in the planning stages in case a few of us need to get motivated to start to work on our more epic pieces.

Well, if Necrons are on the side of chaos again this time, I got at least 5000 points, with hopefully another 1000 by the time it rolls around.  Btw, when will it be?  Do we have a date yet?

I've got close to 5000pts of nids including the endless swarm and can have a lot of carnifex's
and Brandan has around 3000 pts of chaos marines and counting

From what i remember we're limited to 3500 points each, so just choose your favorites. I'll hopefully be running 2 Subterranean Swarms a Scythed Heirodule and maybe a Genestealer Infestation it it'll fit. or ill just rock out my flyrants and hormies.

Carnifexes? What are those? :P
Trygons. Now thats what i'm talkin about.

the tenative date right now is set for january 3rd.  The point value for each person is set for 3500.  The player point value is decided, we are looking for some input as to how this date sits with everyone involved.

So if the 3rd is bad just give an idea of what saturday is better.  We were looking at the following week as a possibility.  There is another thread reguarding this topic, so post you scheduling issues there.

O yea and just something I heard tonight,  there will be No Renegade armies this year.   Unless the army itself is modeled as such.

They were allowed last year to help make up for the uneven teams, but this year its going to be exactly as GW intended.  Evil goes with evil and good with good.

Orks for the win, I have a bunch of points so I'm ready to go.  Unless I unleash my tau.

Provided I can attend, there will be blood.

And for the sake of Mork (or Gork) don't be bringing yer Tau!

I think because of the points restriction to be bringing a Khornate Mortal force as well as a nice force of Khornate daemons.

Angroth for the win, this time screw the order kids, hid him and the present him when they've bent over to tie their shoes.

Side note lets make a plan to untie their shoes before the game.

And yes the orks will be marching under my Grotsnik rule, 5+ invulnerable save grots.

3pts for a grot
5pts for +5 invulnerable

getting a save against basically every weapon in the game= PRICELESS

Weddings BAH!

Elope to vegas have a lesbian asian elvis impersonator do the ceremony, now that makes some memories to tell the kids.

Then you use the money you save to buy the toys you want.  Obviously you may have more money given the woman probably won't go for it.  But that is where the roofy colatta comes into play, keep her sober enough to say "I do".  Video tape it for proof and its legally binding.  BOOO YAAA!  Another problem solved by me.

Tada.....

Just a quick favor, some people asked for an idea of how many of us were going to show this year.

Can I get a shout out from all that are planning on attending, I think we should say for now the date is the 10th.  I know that there was a hand full of people that said the third was not good and the 10th was better.   As of yet I have only seen one person say that they could not make it on the 10th or any date after.

Gang'grath- His urban brother
Wang'grath- Self explanatory, tends to hang out on Bang'grath's bus.

If we put them on foot, between 10 of us that's like 1531 plague marines.

Hey everyone,
Since its Winter and I'm ramping up my painting and playing again I was thinking about getting my 'Crons ready for the Mega battle.  Is there a previous post that details point totals/cost and what not?  And should I pick up the Apoc. book before hand or are there enough copies floating around that I could read one while at the store?
I'm looking forward to playing more at BG and hopefully I'll be able to help out during the Megabattle.  thanks in advance guys!

Welcome!

The mega battle is going to be a 3500 pt per player format with two sides, Order vs Chaos.  There are usually enough books around that you can look up any info you need for apocalypse, but you may want to buy it or reloaded for yourself.  Reloaded has race specific strategic assests.  As for the entry fee for the mega battle, I am currently not sure.  Last year I think it was like $15.  If you interested in using any data sheets we are allowing freely the us of anything off bell of lost souls and the apocalypse books.  If you have a personal data sheet the way we are doing that is that you post it on your sides forum and then when we agree its good we present it to the other side so they can voice their opinions on it.  That way we can make sure no one gets their idea unfairly shot down.
Title: Speaking of data sheets
Post by: jesterofthedark on December 04, 2008, 07:33:06 PM
I have been toying with the idea of an ork drop pod list, and this is what I have worked up as a data sheet.

Ork Rokk  65pt

Unit: 1 Rokk
Type: Transport

Unit Stats: AV- F:11 S:11 R:11  BS:2

Weapons And Equipment: None

Options: Can take up to four of the following bolt-on guns at listed price, guns must be manned by units embarked.   Each Bolt-on has a 180' firing arc.
Big Shoota +5
Rokkit Launcha +10

Weapon Stats: Big Shoota Range: 36" Str:5 Ap:5   Assault 3
                     Rokkit launcha Range: 24" Str:8 Ap:3 Assault 1

Transport Capacity: 30 models (unit model Values found in Apocalypse Book)
                            * Killa Kanz count as 5 units per base.

Speacial Rules:  In-Accurate: Rokks Scatter 3d6" rather than the normal 2d6"
Deep Impact: Rokks are just that Giant Meteors with ship engines welded onto them.  When a Rokk lands Place the 7' blast template down, all models under the template are hit with a Str 8 Ap: 3 blast as the rokk slams into the planet.  Any survivng models are tank shocked as normal (vehicles are moved out of the way even if immobilized as the blast would toss them to the side), terrain is removed as building would crumble under the rokks wieght.  Units inside the transport may not disembark the turn they enter play.
Open-Topped: same as in the rule book.  (Yes units can shoot out of it but count as moving the turn the rokk lands.)
Title: Re: Armageddon: Chaos
Post by: the_trooper on December 05, 2008, 12:35:13 AM
65 points seems a bit low.  How big of a model is this?  I presume at least a 10 inch footprint?  I say that because dreadclaws are something like 5 inches across.

You sure killa kans are only 5 as loyalist dreads count as 10 in a transport / superheavy.

So for math wise, I would consider....

It's about 3 drop pods- so 35 points each * 3 (for transport capacity)

105 So far

7" orbital bombardment shot so about 80 points for that when you factor in the pricing from the daemon hunter codex.

AV is -1 -1 -1 compared to a drop pod

subtracting 10 per negative seems fair

Bringing it to 155 points and having a 7 to 10 inch diameter being roughly spherical in shape.  What say you?
Title: Re: Armageddon: Chaos
Post by: Achillius on December 05, 2008, 07:41:59 AM
155 again seems a little low. Open topped, I presume your going to want to assault the turn it lands?

So what we now have is something that could be 7 inches wides, that may scatter a bit, that can cause strength 8 ap 3 wounds AND then dump out 30 orks or more than likely 3 killer cans. Take that to normal extremes and Turn two sees a mess right in the middle of the oponents deployment zones at least potentially.

so 155 Sounds like a steal. I'd like to see it play tested.... I think bare minimum, your looking at 250pts.

or to make it a bit more Orky we could try this, everything under the template suffers a strength 8 ap 3 hit and the rock suffers a strength 8 ap3 hit for every wound caused by it landing. Passengers suffer 3d6 str 4 ap - hits.

Cheers,
Alan

He said open topped but cannot assault out of it.  Can't even disembark the turn it lands.  Only fliers can you assault out of when they land. (FW drop pod, dreadclaw, thunderhawk....etc)

You assume correctly.

To keep the game going smooth, we want everyone to have their own rules / rule books prior to and before the megabattle.  You will soon see why organization is important when the day comes.  :P

I do have the Imperial Armor: Apocalypse so if you want to see those datasheets let me know.  Leniency on the forgeworld books is where I'm flexible considering how hard it is to get them.

Title: Re: Armageddon: Chaos
Post by: Opforce3 on December 05, 2008, 02:27:08 PM
i wrote these a long time ago for my orks. i only made one rokk model so i never used it. but heres the rules

ork rokk: 150 pts

weapons: none

armor: F10 S10 R10, open topped, immobile

capacity: 30 orks, 6 killa kanz, or 3 deff dredz (grot units cant ride inside one, theyre too scared)

scatters 3d6, but never direct hits.  use the arrow on the direct hit for direction if it does hit

the rokk works like a drop pod, in that it doesnt roll on the mishap chart when it hits a unit, it stops just like a drop pod. once it arrives, the unit inside takes d6 wounds, immediately disembarks and takes a pinning test. if the unit passes the test, it may not move but may assault.
Title: Re: Armageddon: Chaos
Post by: jesterofthedark on December 05, 2008, 02:36:12 PM
the only problem with bumping it up too 250pt is that is then becomes not realistic for a troop transport.

I was just dreaming about the ordinance blast when it lands.  I would think it best in all situations to just make it tank shock anything under it, units test at a -1.  You know since meteors are falling on them.  But everything else remains that same and up the points to 75pt each.

Then for 75pt you get a 30 unit deep striking transport with AV 11, I think SM & CSM drop pods are AV 12.  Open topped so it is easier to take out, since generally the benifit of open topped is assaulting out of it.  But units can not do that the turn it lands and then the rokk is immobilized.  The only guns on it are added on and have to be manned by units transported.  It also scatters farther (come to think of it is should have to scatter 3d6, player picks on a hit).

And ya the kanz count as 10, I just want them to count as 5 since I just heard they are now mount on terminator bases instead of the old bases and I just think they should take up less space than a dread.  I believe the same for sentinels.

Please offer more input, I like the opinions.  Helps to guide the design in the right direction.

the only problem I have with pauls is that whole when it lands everything has to get out.  I mean if 30 orks assault out I could see the opponent calling BS, and if I had to deploy 30 orks just standing there to get chopped up I wouldn't bother with the rokk at all.  I just thought locking them inside for a turn would be fair.  Its easy enough to take out and then the orks would deploy from the wreck and on their turn they could act normally.  I would think a rokk would have a little better armor than a trukk too so that is way I bumped it up to 11 all around.  The real big diffference between this and a Drop pod is the capacity really, its trip so even at triple the cost is still under 100pt and I think the lack of guns and open topped and auto scatter make 75pt a fair call for the unit.

I wanna know what you all think, at this point I have abandoned the 7" attack when it lands.

if 30 space marines can assault out of a spaceship that just flew down from space on the same turn it lands, orks should get to from a big rock.

Only 5 have actually signed up so far, but I have a feeling it's going to fill up really fast.

Entrance fee is $30.00.

That includes a t-shirt and pizza lunch, same as like last year.

ok, I think that maybe we should try to organize a day that we can gather at battlegrounds to figure a little more solid distribution of things.  Like assets and maybe get a feel for a deployment time.  I could do any saturday as I figure that is the easiest for most of us to get to battlegrounds.

just a suggestion, nothing permentant but I think that the more we have planned for the less confusion we will cause on the big day.

Also I was just curious if anyone else thinks we should put some kind limit on the re-enforcement assest.  I mean just thinking about the abuse you could make of that one, the ability to bring a full unit back or even a super heavy.

dear teammates,

i was thinking a few minutes ago (yeah, i know!) and thought about why i'm using chaos in the megabattle. i wanted to play iron warriors because i did last year; to avenge my horrible failure. seeing as this was my sole motivation, i am more likely to fail than ever. so, my new alliance lies with the orks. if this bothers anyone, let me know. but yeah, i guess that means i'm...

Hey guys,

peeking at the order thread it seems about the time we should also get our x-mas wish lists together.  I'm going to ask Derek if he has an info on how to contact people that have signed up but not logged on to the forums.  In the mean time, I'd like to offer up an email I created for this event.  You guys can give it to other people you know are playing on our side.

Ideally I would like for everyone to send me and email, and just include: your name, how many points you can bring, and assest you would like to get.  If you have a theme for your army that would be cool too, you know make a fluffy deployment.  Like for example the dark eldar hovering just behind the ork mobs to swoop in and claim any survivors as slaves.

Obiviously no one is required to do this, I'm just try to get a leg up on the big event.  This way we can mock the unorganized Order players the day of our victory.

Good news everybody!

All players are getting 4000pt for their armies now, Derek has offically raised the total from 3500.  I know Obama gets elected and we all get more points for our armies, democracy works people.

not really, we were able to figure out some of who had extra points and who needs them.  We also now know the deployment zones (as it stands now) are the same as last year.  With Chaos being the attacker from the outside moving in.

We also now know that the chaos side is filled, and all the order side has only two slots left open.  We just need to now hear from the rest of the side as to who is bringing what and if they are under the 4k limit.

What we know:
1) Paul G: Orks
2) Tim O: Orks
3) Kevin N: Orks
4) Drew : orks
5) Lee R: Chaos Marines
6) Rich B: Chaos Marines
7) Mike D: Chaos Marines
8 ) Ron : Necrons
9) Steve R: Dark Eldar

I know I am missing 6 names from this list but I am not sure who else has offically signed up for our side.  Nor am I sure if they read the posts, I know Tyranid Warlord and Eastie04 we talking about entering but I am not sure if they have signed up.  At this point we know what everyone on the list above is looking to bring with some minor tweaks.  If anyone reading this is not on the list and signed up if you private message me here or Email me at orkdok@yahoo.com I can fill you in on the details.

The formatting here is going to suck, but youll figure it out:

DISORDER

Dave Mace    Tyranids
Brandon Mace   Chaos Space Marines
Steve Riley   Dark Eldar
Kevin Nolan   Orks
Kurt Onofrey   Necrons
Richard Bourque   World Eaters
Mike Do                Death Guard
Allan Knowles   Chaos Daemons
Ron McKim   Necrons
Drew Mccarthy   Orks
Brandon Dufresne   Necrons
Paul Gaughran   Orks
Jake P                Chaos Space Marines
Lee Roby     Death Guard
Tim Malley   Orks

Kurt and Mike Do are the only ones who can't make the 4000 point limit.  Kurt said he can feild 3000 and Mike is listed as 3500, but I'm sure that's not accurate.
Title: Re: Armageddon: Chaos

Kurt if you happen to read this if you could email me at my yahoo account or Private message me or Rich B (a.k.a The_Trooper) I would appreciate it just to let us know how your doing making you points up.  Like Rich said no one has any pressure to meet the 4k limit, we can always find someone to use an extra 100 points or so.

Also don't worry about not bringing any super-heavies if you can't get your hands on one or paint it by the fight.  I know if awesome to have on in this kind of battle but you will not be out gunned if you don't bring one.  The team is there to back you up with our armies, no one is expected to be a stand alone force.

Except for Paul G, but that is just because for some reason he always gets hammered on is every big game.  And I'm not gonna get within scatter range of his force.   :)

Any of the other players if you haven't been able to get in touch with us, we will be around and would like to try to get everyone down to bg for a sit down.

Chase if some of the listed people are unable to read the boards and come into the store if you could let them know we are trying to get in touch with them we would appreciate it.
