Title: Plainville Warmahordes
Post by: canadianone on March 14, 2012, 06:49:30 PM
So, i know we sort of have a thread like this stickied, but that one seems to never get updated or looked at. So, this thread in theory will be to help organize games and what not for the (hopefully) growing crowd of people interested in warmachine and hordes in Plainville.

I should be down there tomorrow afternoon (thursday), probably painting if i can find the right colors, but i would love to get a game in with anyone interested, and I will have a good assortment of battle boxes available if you would like to try a test game, or if you don't have your own models yet.

Hope to see someone there!

I get the sinking feeling this thread is not going to go any where, but if anyone is interested, i will be in saturday painting, and i would be up for some games (especially practice battle box games).

Thanks for the games, have you ever considered using kayazy assassins? The only reason i say this is because they would make another good counter assault unit to take out hordes of light infantry like my pirates, Assault Kommandos are also really good for that because they can shoot as they charge and get two melee attacks. That or maybe a mortar, with fire for effect, it could actually hit something XD

Hey, Tim, I came up with a 25 point list (Don't worry, its for Magnus, not shae) and i would love to try it out if you can make it down next thursday

I live a virtually equal distance between the plainville and abbington store and am sitting around with tons of warmahordes stuff wishing i could play. but still waiting on the paperwork for my car to go through so i can put it on the road. I really want to meet people and make friends out in this part of the state as i moved here from western mass and am living in bridgewater now.

Awesome!  Hopefully you can make it to the Battlebox tournament on the 31st of this month!

I don't have a battle box for either of my armies. -_- I lost both the Argus's (Argi?) from the circle starter box and made my cryx from scratch skipping the battle box as I didnt want half the models out of it. If I have time I might pick up a battlebox of another faction for fun but no promises really as money is tight and no idea when the car starts rolling.

Well, first of all, welcome to BG! We'd love to see you around plainville, especially saturdays and thursdays! second of all, my brother collects battle boxes, and said that as long as you are careful, he doesn't mind you using one for the day.

He has
-Khador
-cygnar
-cryx
-skorne

Pick two, as he will be playing one of them and might choose your first pick, but it will most likely be skorne. Also, if you happen to have Broadsides Bart, i have the rest of the talion charter box if that floats your boat (PUN'd)!!!

Either way, hope to see you there, and any thursday that you can make it.

Awesome Thank you so much! I could put down some form of collateral with the store owner to make is all gravy if needed. If you are comfortable with me borrowing that is awesome anyway. I think me and my girlfriend will head down now! We were on the fence considering we only have 1 battlebox between us but now I'm in for sure. Just got to convince her to give a tournament playing a shot! But, even if thats not her speed I'm sure she wouldnt mind kicking it and playing on the side or something. Thank you for the warm welcome you guys really are pretty awesome.

Est, sorry about those two, GOSS is always like that, don't know what got into Ed. Don't worry about them, they have been goofing around the forums, specifically on this one for some reason. I think Goss is typically at abbington, and Ed has been known to appear late thursday at plainville, but not in recent memory

Estenberg, i will definitely be up this thursday with 35 points of mercs, this time with some french flavoring ;) if you are game.

also, my brother's friend left his circle book at our house, at i was reading up on Kromac, i think we did his beast out rule wrong, it seems that when you hit him, he takes the damage in his current form, then AFTER the damage roll, he beasts out, so he would take the hit on what ever armor his human form has, also, if you choose beast form at the beginning of your turn, you can't up keep spells because it is done in the beginning of you maintenance phase. I don't remember if you were upkeeping spells so i may be telling you stuff you already know, also, i don't have the book in front of me at the moment, so i might be mistaken. looking forward to another game!

Looking at the book now. You are correct in both aspects. I thought you chose at the beginning of his activation not maintainance phase, and in MKI you could pay a fury before damage I'm pretty sure because I used to see that all the time on the internet. More stuff has changed in MKII than I thought.

yeah, i never player Mki, but in the words of a pressganger i was talking to, Mkii "fixed" a lot of the tricks people used in Mki like throwing your own model, paying a focus to stand it up, and and then activating it normally.

Only the Wrastler can do this still. Shake happens prior to activation and if your models get knocked down during your turn there are still penalties, even if they are immune to KD.

The changes are for the better. I used to get away with murder in MKI with my Kodiak throwing my Drakhun at my opponent's caster. The good ol' days. Still its better because I don't miss certain things like MKI Stygian Abyss with Perfect Conjunction and Puppet Strings. F that noise.

Not this saturday, but if you want to come down saturdays, id be happy to bike down and get some games in. I just can't make it THIS saturday, unless of course you had a Phinneus Shae card (both of them) you wouldn't mind selling. I know, strange prerequisite, but after this weekend i wouldn't mind heading down for saturday games.

What time do you go on Fridays? Everything depends on how much I have to do at work, but I can probably make it on most Friday evenings for games.

Willem and i will be there, id also like to talk with some of these guys about starting a paint and grow league, esteinberg, if you say these guys are new, this would be a great way to help get them into the hobby, and get in a lot of games.

Cool! were you there last friday? Im just trying to put a name to a face. Willem and I are planning on being there at about 3, and there is at least one other person going. Were you the Khador player who whooped me (emory) and willem?

I forget who I spoke to. I'm the biker with the handlebar mustache. Haven't played down at that store yet but I wander by to buy stuff ever other week or so. I play mostly circle and Menoth, though I have a little but of legion as well.

Friday nights are turning into the WM/H night in Plainville.  There's been a decent turnout the past couple weeks.  Overall the crowd is a lot newer and less experienced than Abington.

I'll probably be there between 4 and 5. If I can get things wrapped up at work quickly I may just take a half day and burn some of my vacation time that is piling up.

I would suggest that we develop a contacts list/sign in sheet for the league that can be posted to the forum. I think you can list your name, forum name, and your faction(s), and if people want to exchange personal information like phone numbers, email, etc, they can use PMs.
