Title: Tyranid gathering
Post by: Unit04 on July 03, 2008, 03:05:26 PM
To continue the thread from the other place...

When do the Tyranid players want to gather their "Armageddon" armies?  The 12th or 19th is good for me.

Well so you can at least calculate your points, the Trygon is 300 points.

Warlord, do you have the Armageddon book?

Also, do you want to gather on any particular Saturday to see what we can field?

Works for me.  I may be going to see Hellboy II that day, but we are trying for a matinée.

Well, we can field 3000 pt armies a piece.  So once the Trygon comes in, we should set a time and shoot for 9000 pts.

General Leevous will no longer be using my beloved hive fleet. Ive found some possible ways to go myself now and i dont want his grimy nurgle hands touching my precious.

So for my Trygon im just waiting on the mail, and im debating on whether buying the new Tyranid Assault Brood, or a Barbed Heirodule for a little less monies. Or i might just buy another battleforce or 2.. damn my addiction to getting more nids..

im also painting like crazy lately, it'll be cool to see all the different nid schemes we have together in one game

Let us know when the Trygon is ready and available to go!

I am thinking about picking stuff up too, but as I don't paint it (I had someone paint them for me), thats what is really stopping me.

And the fact that I haven't played in ages.

But I'm looking forward to a nice Tyranid Armageddon game.

lol, paul is good for quite a few thousand points of orks.  And if ya tap me to hop in depending on the date I'm good for about 5,000 easy maybe more if I get motivated to bulk up.

oops, forgot to check back. i can field almost 9000 pts at the moment, but it will be steadily increasing as i continue to scratch build more ridiculous things.

Cool.  It'd be nice if we got a 3v3, but I'm good for 3v2 as well.  I won't be around this weekend, but I think we have our sides set (unless there's another orkoid out there).

sounds like a sweet deal. anyone have any ideas for the date?

we get an idea on points yet?  and I need to know a date just to make sure I'm not on-call that weekend.

O and should we post data sheets we plan on fielding for approval or are we throwing caution to the wind.  I'm good either way, I love surprizes.

Post by: Ravenous on July 19, 2008, 02:23:05 AM
got the tyrgon in today, still need a datasheet for it though. id also rather have more carnifexes than i do but the new apocalypse reload has provided me other ways of going with what ive got. that is if i can get ahold of 3 lictors.. and i kinda need one more ravener before i can feild my trygon datasheet but that shouldnt be a worry ill have it in time, and ill have them painted if it kills me

Title: Re: Tyranid gathering

yea but I think the teams aren't gonna be straight up orks on nid's.  Looking to be a organization of forces vs the nid's, at least that is what I heard the other day.

Wateva is cleva wit me.  I'm takin Rok'em Boyz as my asset, cue the space rocks.  ITS ORKS IN SPAAAACEEE!!!!!!!!

...... still with a BS of 2, we're in accurate but god damit it we look good when we miss.

How does August 9th sound for everyone?  The 16th and 23rd will be hard for me, as I won't be in the state.

I was thinking 3000 points a piece for the nids, leaving us with 9000 points per side.

yay?  nay?
Title: Re: Tyranid gathering
Post by: jesterofthedark on July 21, 2008, 07:42:57 PM
the 9th may not work for me, its the three year aniversary for me and the woman.  I'm still waiting to here if she wants to go away that weekend or not.  I'll post my answer in a day or two.

As for points if its just me and paul vs three I'll leave the point tallying to him.  4500 is cool with me.
Title: Re: Tyranid gathering
Post by: jesterofthedark on July 21, 2008, 08:52:18 PM
ya I'm out barring any un-forseen situation preventing our plans.  BUt by all means go without me, paul alone has like 9000 pts with some to spare.
Title: Re: Tyranid gathering
Post by: Unit04 on July 22, 2008, 11:19:50 AM
Well, I'm up for an alternate date.  How is the 2nd?  That still gives us two weeks to collect our figs and paint them up.
Title: Re: Tyranid gathering
Post by: jesterofthedark on July 23, 2008, 01:21:25 AM
I think I can do that.  I talked to paul tonight about the date, he just needs to know for sure.  I'll have a yes or no tomorrow.

Have we set the sides 9,000 a side?
Title: Re: Tyranid gathering

I have.  No one else has replied.  :)
Title: Re: Tyranid gathering
Post by: jesterofthedark on July 23, 2008, 05:47:53 PM
lol, well I can try and get in touch with cookie.  He has close to 3k depending on how he equips stuff.  And he is usually there on sat playing dark heresy with sims.

I'll talk to him and see if he's down.

On a forces question what is the general feeling about super heavies, flyers and data sheets?  Just so that we can orgainze a force that is enjoyable for all players.

I know you guys have at least one trygon down to play, paul and I have no short supply of acopocalypic fun.
Title: Re: Tyranid gathering
Post by: Unit04 on July 24, 2008, 11:53:31 AM
I hate everything that I don't have (or at least isn't on my side).

I THOUGHT I had enough gaunts for the Endless Swarm dealy, but I don't, so I won't have any special data sheets.  I'm hesitant on requesting you guys to hold down your super heavies just because I don't have any.  So I'm willing to let things fly as they are, no restrictions.  Just let me have enough targets for my gaunts, is all.  :)

Also, I assume we will be using v4 of the rulebook?  That is all I have.
Title: Re: Tyranid gathering
Post by: tyranid warlord on July 24, 2008, 01:48:25 PM
The second sounds good for us and v4 is fine to, as for super heavy's Lets see what happen in the
battle If it is to one sided then next time we'll know better but we'll all have a blast anyway.
With all the nids on the board were bound to take something big.
Title: Re: Tyranid gathering
Post by: jesterofthedark on July 24, 2008, 05:37:26 PM
v4 sounds good to me.

As for the supers, well one average one is costing us 600 pts.  So ya gotta think that the amount of stuff you can fit in for that is gonna counter them.  Like 600 is what it would cost for two pretty well fitted carnies, and one could drop a titan in close combat as long as you upgraded its init.  All titans strike at initiative 1.
Title: Re: Tyranid gathering
Post by: Unit04 on July 25, 2008, 11:01:37 AM
I'm not too worried.  There will certainly be problems, but, as you said, they won't be impossible to counter.  Get enough attacks on it, and even rending creatures stand a chance against them.
Title: Re: Tyranid gathering
Post by: jesterofthedark on July 26, 2008, 02:03:35 AM
I also talked to cookie last night, he can make it next week with his 3k of nids'.  Now they aren't going to be fully painted, so if thats a problem let me know and I can relay the message.  But as of now he's willing to hope in if you guys will have him.

That will give me and paul 6000 a piece, which if I am correct is around what he wanted to field.
Title: Re: Tyranid gathering
Post by: Opforce3 on July 26, 2008, 03:53:56 AM
id want to field everything i have, which is almost 10,000. but 6000 isnt bad.

last I heard we had set the date to August 2nd, because later in the month was not going to work for the other nid players and I was planning on going away the 9th.

next time we see the other 2, we need to make sure they know we want to do this the 2nd
Title: Re: Tyranid gathering
Post by: jesterofthedark on July 28, 2008, 04:30:21 PM
ok, well I have informed cookie myself.  So we're good there.

The other nid player is usually down on Tuesday and I'll be there for jared's game.  So I'll talk to him then, if not him then his nurgle buddy (lee) and basically get the message across.   Now he is the Nid with the trygon.

Who is the unknown nid player then??

Tyranids
1. Unit04
2. General Leevous (trygon)
3. Tyranid Warlord (??)

Orks
1. Paul
2. Me

Next Question:

When do we want to start this party?
Title: Re: Tyranid gathering
Post by: jesterofthedark on July 28, 2008, 06:50:56 PM
I'd say we want everyone there around 1 so we can get the table set up and assets chosen.

And aim to start by 2, unless that conflict with anyone?

Cookie has spoken with me this past Saturday so he will be absent from Dark Heresy and will be available to you for the whole time.

ok guys, I was talking to chase last night.  I think the fourth nid player may be coming around 3.

He may see the posts and show up earlier but I'll leave it up to you guys, setup may take awhile anyway but as a whole we should decide if we are going to wait.  I personally think between bidding time and picking assets there is going to be a little bit of a delay.  and I'm pretty sure general leevous is deep striking or reserving a good portion of his for if I'm not wrong so if we hear from him maybe we can start and he can just enter in reserves or something.

Whatever is the best solution for us all I'm down for.  I'll check the boards later tonight after I go see batman with the girlfriend.  :)

Title: Re: Tyranid gathering

Even longer battle.

The 'Nids held three solid objectives, I think.  One objective was contested, but the Orks had a good chance to claim it if we didn't stop before their turn.

Note to self:  Start Earlier
Title: Re: Tyranid gathering
Post by: jesterofthedark on August 04, 2008, 03:30:01 PM
yea basically we can't make a call on the game because we stopped after the top of the third turn.  It was close though, the late addition of the behemouth carnifexs changed a lot for me and paul.

But, I learned alot from this experience.  Next time I think we need to set a solid start time.  The delays that we ran into were not anyone's fault, the absence of one player and the addition and subraction of points multiple times caused some chaos.

I think over all it went well though, I hope to do it again soon.
