Title: paint thinners
Post by: shwnlyns on June 11, 2013, 09:35:06 AM
I've started airbrushing, thinning my paint with alcohol but I can't get it thick enough to stick to the model without clogging the airbrush nozzle.  Just curious to see what others have used to thin paint that works better than alcohol.

I use Air Brush Medium to thin paints; also what size air brush are you using?

Its a .35 nozzle. Also I've been spraying bleached bone which doesn't seem to have a lot pigment compared to other paints, but maybe that's just me.

Depending on the brush and the paint I either use an alcohol and water mix or air brush medium

if your paint is a water based acrylic adding rubbing alcohol to it can cause it to coagulate.   Especially if you have already thinned it with water.

Generally paints will thin with either water or alcohol but not both.
