It's always nice to see stuff about a rumored product that is likely to have a large impact on our community via some sort of league.
If it's released in July, a realistic start date is probably late September / October for a league (fall instead of summer)... I'm sure Derek is going to want a SWEET looking map for something like this. As we all know, that takes lots and lots of time. I was half expecting the thing to just be a bunch of planets, but it seems like it will be a massive fight over just one. Carnage... Mmmmm... :)
Even I can't wait to see what kind of tweaks they make to this... It should be a lot of fun.

I figured that's what you meant. I wonder if it's just a bad paint job. I wasn't too worried about the map in the WHFB one, I was more excited about the rules and such.

Re: Something this summer...
I don't know many of the details and nothing is concrete but there is likely to be a 40k 1v1 event sometime towards the end of July. We are thinking maybe 1500 points.
This event is still in the "talking about it" phase but I figured the heads up might be nice.

I'm with Grim on some sort of summer league.
Sadly, it is very unlikely that the store will run a 40k league this summer if the Planetary Empires product is scheduled for a July release. It takes a lot of time to get the tiles ready to the standard Derek will want them and given the level of interest we had for the WHFantasy version, we are going to need a very large map (LOTS of tiles = lots of time).
We do have the Lucky 13 events going on for the next 6 months and there's always the 1v1 tourney I spoke about.

It runs basically whenever 4 guys can agree to get together and play the senario. :)
Mondays and Thursdays just seem to be the best two nights for it.

Very good, maybe switching to a more gothic script might fool someone other than our bike riding hippie into believing it is the planetstrike cover

You will as soon as we have the product, all of the tiles are painted, and the map is assembled. That's a fact. :)
