RULES FOR TANKSGIVING

Rule Books:
The Warhammer 40,000 Sixth Edition Rules will be used.

The following is a list of legal army choices:
Codex: Blood Angels
Codex: Chaos Daemons
Codex: Chaos Space Marines
Codex: Grey Knights
Codex: Dark Angels
Codex: Dark Eldar
Codex: Eldar
Codex: Imperial Guard
Codex: Necrons
Codex: Orks
Codex: Space Marines
Codex: Space Wolves
Codex: Tau
Codex: Adepta Sororitas

MODELS AND POINTS:

1. Each player must bring a tank.  Any tank will do.  ANY tank.  No point limit.

2. Super heavies are allowed

3. All models must follow “What You See Is What You Get” (WYSIWYG). All
weapons, war gear, and so forth must be represented on the model.

4. Forge World Imperial Armor units may be used.

HOW TANKSGIVING WORKS:

Objective:  Kill tanks.

At the end of the event the player with the most points wins.

The event will be run as a "free for all" with each player fighting for himself on the same table.

Kills caused by ramming do not score points.

Super Heavies will have Hull Points equivalent to their ForgeWorld updates.

Players will have 60 seconds to resolve their turn.  Don't think, just kill.

• Scoring System:

Immobilized enemy Vehicle:  1pt
Killed enemy Vehicle:  2pts
Killed enemy Super Heavy Vehicle:  5pts

Your Vehicle is destroyed:  -1pt
Your Super Heavy Vehicle is destroyed:  -2pts

*There may be objectives that players can claim that are worth additional points each round.

• Upgrade Rolls:

Obviously Baneblades and Land raiders and other large vehicles will have a
distinct advantage in this game so to balance things out cheaper vehicles get
to roll on the upgrade table before battle commences. Vehicles 150pts or under
get 2 rolls on the table; vehicles 151-210pts get one roll. Vehicles 211 pts or
more get nothing.

• Upgrade Table Roll D6

1  -  Safety Harness (Ignore Shaken and Stunned Results)
2  -  Gyroscopic Stabilizers (Veh. Counts as moving 6” less for shooting purposes.)
3  -  Targeting Matrix (+1 BS)
4  -  Venerable (may make enemy reroll on Damage Table)
5  -  Ablative Armor (+1 side, front, rear Armor to a max 14)
6  -  Super Shot. (One extra shot at S10 from your main gun)

Players may "trade down" on this chart.  Example:  If you roll a 5 you can choose to take result 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5.

• Each player deploys their vehicle anywhere in one of 6 locations on the table, determined by a die roll.

• Players will roll randomly to determine deployment order.  Highest roll will place last and go first.

• When your vehicle is destroyed it is removed from the table and then can come on at the start of the next player’s turn.  It will respawn anywhere in one of the 6 deployment zones, as determined by a die roll.

The Sixth Edition Rulebook will be in use for all games and will be the definitive guide
for all rules.

What You Need to Bring with You:
-Your (hopefully painted) tank
-A copy of the EXACT rules governing your tank
-Rulebooks and any additional books you need
-Pen and paper
-Dice and templates
-Tape measure

Awards:  The winner of the event will be given a non-super heavy tank of their choice.

Please post any questions or comments here.

So Chase, why no points for killing by ramming?  None of my guys can hit anything when they shoot anyway.  Come on man, we are Orks.  We want to hand to hand fight so much we put melee weapons on our tanks.

Do titans count as tanks? Like, can those of us with a phantom titan bust it out?

It has the tank special rule, I think.

Wheels weren't listed anywhere. What about hover tanks?

Caestus Assault Rams are tanks, just saying.

If by hover tanks you mean skimmers, then yes they are legal as long as it also says "tank" under unit type (ie Necron Monolith, most Eldar, most Tau etc)

The casteus assault ram is a skimmer tank if memory serves but since Chase isn't allowing ramming that makes it kinda useless doesn't it?

and Titans? uh no, they are super heavy walkers as per the book. That new CSM lord of skulls kit is actually a super heavy walker even though it has tank treads... go figure

edit: i stand corrected, apparently the Castues assault ram is classified as a Flyer AND a tank...not sure how well that would work with TANKSgiving though since not much there is going to have skyfire

Ramming doesn't score points because we want a tank fight and not bumper cars.  Been there, done that.

Want to bring a flying tank that rams things?  Go for it.

If your walker somehow has the tank rule, please let me know.

Fortunately, I think that only one person between the two stores owns one and...

1) He doesn't play 40k much anymore.
2) I doubt he's the type to bring a flier to TANKSgiving.
3) I'm not worried about things even if he does.

no ramming? that seems like a random rule. and kind of a BS one too. ramming is part of the game and something ONLY tanks can do and seeing as its TANKSgiving, why wouldn't you want to use a rule that is specific to the type of vehicle being put on display at what has been a very fun event in the past.

It was out last year.  It's out this year.  It's out for good reason.  End of story.

Why is this message board FULL of crying lately?  Jeez.

It seems impossible to post an event without people complaining about something.  The rules are posted.  If people dislike them, that's fine.  If they're unclear, that's fine too.  We're playing a game folks!

Because the year I went (I guess that was two years ago) the whole night was nothing but battlewagon's with def rollers' coming in from off table and rear ramming people.  It was amusing about the first 5 times it happened and then it was dumb.

Two years ago they offered extra points for ramming, hence the extra battlewagons. And I know it's been said there was no ramming last year, except there was in abington >.> I didn't know that was off. Two battlewagons ranked second and third, behind a shadowsword.

Also, super heavies got harder to kill by standard tanks thanks to the way hull points are calculated. (I'm not being dumb about that, yes? 9 hull points for most baneblade classes, lose 1 to a pen and another to a 6 result on the chart?). Granted most of those tanks have just a high strength template now, with the exception of the shadowsword which will probably clean house this year.

I don't know, I feel like Ramming really isn't that big of a deal. And I was planning on bringing a hammerhead.

Chase,

One thing I would recommend, based on last year, is to have Super Heavies based on a different scale than the "normal" tanks (maybe non-super heavies have their scores multiplied by 2 or something).  At least in Planeville last year, the two super heavies racked up an insane amount of points that none of the normal tanks could touch.

Towards the end of 5th, everything had been FAQ'd the veterans finally had all the answers to all the questions.

6th edition is still (relatively) new and way, way more codex's have been coming out, and GW hasn't FAQ'd anything (significant) in like 6 months.  There's a LOT more known unknowns.

That's probably the reason for all the angst across the board to be honest. There's a high level of uncertainty to a lot of the new rules so people are unsure how to react.

I didn't think that you were singling me out.  I just mean, I may be unhappy about the state of the rules, but continually pestering people who aren't prepared to figure out how to fix it may not be all that helpful :)

yup my shadowsword, since its the only time i get to run it. And we dint get points for ramming last year up in abington but since it was our group, we rammed anyways because it was fun, or because weapons got destroyed, or in some cases, people couldnt hit. And i think we boxed someone in between a battlewagon and a baneblade. cant remember who.

Per the new Apoc rulebook, it's as much of a tank as a Baneblade is. You guys seem to have extra requirements though, so would be "immobile" stop it from being considered a tank for this event?

All things that are tanks have the "tank" special rule.

Does the pylon have that subtype / special rule?

The baneblade doesn't.

They're defined as "super heavy vehicles" with no mention of the tank rule. That would be why I'm asking if we're going to treat the Pylon as a tank, it has the same type as the baneblade.

Its true that everything seems to be a "super heavy vehicle" or a "super heavy walker"

Its TANKSgiving, which to me says tank not a gun emplacement.

the other problem you are going to have is at start and everytime your tank gets blown up you you drive in from the table edge... how is something immobile going to drive in from the table edge?

Dude, it's not a tank.

If the baneblade isn't a tank...well obviously it should be.

The main game effect of tankhood is that it allows you to tank shock.

Dude, it's as much of a tank as a Baneblade is. I'm asking the TO if they're considering it a tank or not for the event, I'd rather not show up and then find out BG doesn't consider it a tank.

Pylons are not considered a tank for this event.

How about this:  If it doesn't have a turret (like a traditional, real life tank) OR it has never had the "tank" rule, it's not allowed.

Why rewrite rules and complicate things?

If it was a tank in the previous Apocalypse edition it's allowed in this event, otherwise check your codex.

TANKSgiving will be coming to you in two different flavors this year:

RAMLite and RAMUltra

Abington location only: Ramming will score points.

One additional optional upgrade rule will be put in place: Dozer Blades will generate an additional d3 ram hits in addition to it's normal rules.
