Tips on how to paint white scars.
« on: February 22, 2012, 11:11:07 PM »
Ok so i just got done with my Space Marine tatical squad and i wanted to paint it the white scars, (i'm going the fluffish route) and i was just wondering if anyone really knows how to paint white scars, google is no help so here i am! Do you go from grey and work your way up or go from white and try not to screw up too much? Also has anyone had any experence with Secret Weapon Washes, i heard that for making white looking darker it's better than devlan mud. Thanks- the king

Great tutorial on painting white. Thanks for posting it.

If you buy the secret weapon wash then pick up some of their weathering powder while your at it. It's great stuff!

I start with bleached bone and work my way to white.

White is difficult to paint because it hardly allows a painter to make a mistake, i.e. messing up the red pattern on a White Scars Marine. Since white is so light anything darker than it will show through. This makes me want to paint white now, I'll fool around with a few marines, see what happens, and post my results.

I encourage beginning painters to undercoat with white for the same reason. Makes you keep your technique tight.
