Thread... of GLORY!!!
« on: February 14, 2015, 02:57:38 PM »
So, since the direction of our game has changed... again.  And since the idea of posting in a thread named 'Summer Game' is too painful lately, here's a new thread for new beginnings.

What was tentatively decided was that the meeting on the 27th would be for boardgames and further discussion, leading to a lv 1-20 dungeon crawl campaign run by Steve to follow.

I intend to play an oracle and the healz role.

Ok looking back over the mod it seems it is actually a lvl 1 - 14 or so mod.

My friends Ian and Alexis are both in for the game so our group is full.

Character creation rules: One archetype if you use them. Races and Classes are open, if you want a weird or far out there one run it by me first. Point Buy - 20pts, no stat to start over 18 before racial modifiers.

It is a dungeon crawl but there is a town nearby that is a 'quest' hub and place for buisness. It is run by a Hellknight order.

The group will be coming knowing each other ahead of time.

Point buy?  That's downright communist!

I swear I never *ever* thought I'd see Riley run a point-buy game.

Should we have characters created before the next meeting?  I'm thinking of playing a paladin, druid, or alchemist depending on what other people play.  My basic decision algorithm is ->

Lack of tanky characters = paladin
Party has tank + rogue-type = druid
Party needs rogue-type = alchemist

Yes I understand there are many, many scenarios not covered by that simple set of rules.  I'll make up something new then.  Probably alchemist if we've got paladins and druids already.

Glad to hear we have a full group.

There's a way I can make my oracle super tanky.  But it's based on which mystery I pick, so it can't be changed in-game.

I wouldn't worry over-much if I were you.  Kinda comes down to how you wanna play it though.

Eh, I've always been about doing amusing cool stuff over effectiveness.  Why else would I love the monk so much?

I recall your 4e fighter being pretty effective.  At least in terms of his tank role...

Unfortunately the really cool 4e tank didn't come out until after that campaign.

Can't remember the name of the class, but if another character was hit with a melee attack, you could sacrifice your NEXT standard action to run over there and force them to hit you instead.

I forgot that I already had plans for this Friday night. So the first session will actually be on 3/13/15.

Classes so far:

Rick - Oracle
Alexis - Inquisitor

That's all I have been told so far.

Friday the 13th.  An inauspicious beginning.

Depends on if you're trying to TPK us right off the bat.

Can't access this thread from home...the only thing I can figure is someone in Boston made a DoS attack on the Battlegrounds IP and the firewall put my area on ignore for a few days.

If there's no game on the 13th, do we want to get together for board games?  We'd potentially only have three people for it.

Should we have characters prepped on the 13th?  If so, let's try and keep this thread updated with what people are playing, although I'm aware no one cares about that NEARLY as much as me.

Are story feats allowed, Lycosan, or do you want to avoid the trouble?

I'll definitely be there for the board games, if only to break up the monotony of the week.

I was thinking of being an aasimar.  Is that ok?
