It was a different night at the game store. For 40k games, there were only two.

Grey Knights vs Tyranids
Space Wolves vs Tau

Xenos won both games, kicking power armor to the curb.

Lots of great hobby conversation around the store tonight though. Tournament scenes, painting, conversions, and I pitched the 500 tournament to anyone who would listen (for the two people who didn't know).

I will be at the 40k Tourney. Guard.

If you register (by calling the store or e-mailing Chase) when registration opens October 10th, high noon. {Edit: Date fixed!}

I feel better about the "first come, first serve" philosophy if we tell people when to be present. I'm hoping everyone who has expressed interest to this point will get in.

And you've made instant friends, bringing 500 points of Guard. I just recently picked up an IG codex and it's just so crazy cheap! I anticipate Guard doing really, really well.

Yeah. I hope so. I plan on making it into the tourney, as we have discussed my love of skirmish sized games in the past. Who else wanted 500pts of Guard? I'm still tweaking out the list, deciding on what armor to bring: Hydra or Vendetta.....Are you going to try to get in?

Ben means October 10th.  :)

Whoops. I was telling people the wrong date for registration then. I'll go back and fix the post above.

I must have transposed the 12 noon into the date, and for some reason it's stuck. My god, at least the tournament is still November 5th, right?!  :o

Are you going to try to get in?
This is one of the things we talked about this at the store tonight. Either way, I'll be there all day. However, I'm undecided about playing, because I want to avoid any conflict of interest, be it real or perceived. Call me paranoid, but I'm also completely willing to put the event ahead of myself. And to that, I know I'll have a blast watching all the crazy games all day. I'm good either way.

It didn't look like Outflanking was treating you too well either. But those are tricks generally played but once, and next time you'll be Neil Patrick Harris. "It's afraid!"

It happens from time to time, though the store wasn't really empty. About ten people playing Magic, four people playing 40k, twice as many talking about 40k. Record low we've seen on a Thursday was 4 people period, and that was actually one of the more fun nights I remember. I think the lower attendance is a combination of the school year and a strange drought of BG 40k events, so it's not wholly unexpected on my end. Ard Boyz took up two months worth of commitment and October filled up quick. We just have to lure people in with 500 point practice games!

The 500 Points of Victory tournament is coming up (yeah, that's what I'm calling it :) ), so who would like to practice this Thursday?
