Looking for an orange
« on: October 31, 2013, 10:33:43 PM »
as the topic suggests, I'm looking for an orange color. A kind of burnt orange, not the bright stuff GW sells, but something with a bit more brown or dark red in it.

I'm really only familiar with GW paints so I'm hoping someone can point me toward a vallejo or P3 (or anything really) paint they may have seen or used. I've been looking at images online and vallejo game color terracotta maybe looks about right but it's hard to tell looking at it through a computer monitor.

Going through my paints...Vallejo's Terracotta is indeed a good option, it is darker than their other oranges in the Game Color line. Also, I could see their Game Color "Parasite Brown" being a good highlight color for the Terracotta.

You have options in the Vallejo Model Color line as well...and Abington BG carries them. "Orange Brown", "Medium Fleshtone', & "Red Leather" are pretty convincing.

P3 wise I think you find "ember orange" is what ya looking for
Children yet, the tale to hear, Eager eye and willing ear, Lovingly shall nestle near.  In a Wonderland they lie, Dreaming as the days go by, Dreaming as the summers die: Ever drifting down the stream --Lingering in the golden gleam --Life, what is it but a dream?

Art paint wise try a raw sienna.
