If you are a regular at Battleground, you’ve heard of Sam Pearson’s epic-level Game Mastering prowess. What you may not yet realize is that he is a regular columnist on a new blog called Difficult Terrain, a website aimed at helping GMs improve by offering tips, tools, and ideas to make their games run more smoothly. Sam’s latest contribution focuses on the relationship between stats and story, and how important it is to not let the former get in the way of the latter.

Our incredibly successful Magic: 2013 Core Set Prerelease weekend is behind us and the set officially goes on sale this Friday the 13th. Both stores are usually open pretty late on Thursday night, in which case people are welcome to come down and pick up some of the new product at midnight. Also, make sure to check out the calendar for this weekend’s Launch Party. We have some great events to fill up your weekend, so come on down to either location and hang out with us.

Exciting Changes
Welcome to the new Battleground website! It’s been a long time coming, and it’s still a work in progress, but we are very happy with the results and hope that you like it too. You can expect to see some new features added or changed over the coming months as well as some old features that we plan to carry over. Our forums will continue to operate much as they always have, changing only in theme. All of the content history will remain intact and current members do not need to make any changes to their account.
The biggest new feature to the website is our online store. We will begin with Magic singles but you can definitely expect to see this portion of our business grow in the near future. Also, the Battleground website will become much more informative as we do our best to keep you up to date on upcoming products, industry news, articles and reviews. This will all be featured on our home page in blog format.
Event listings and our calendar will also be much more intuitive than it has been in the past and there will be a greater degree of user interactivity available for people to participate more directly in our event communication.
As always, we are happy to receive any feedback you have to offer, so please send along your comments to contact@battlegroundgames.com.
