MTG ‘Dragons of Tarkir’ Pre-release One Week Away!

Join us at Battleground Games & Hobbies for the Dragons of Tarkir Prerelease and experience the newest Magic: the Gathering set a week before it goes on sale!

OUR CASUAL FRIENDLY PRIZE PAYOUT WILL AWARD PRIZE PACKS TO EVERYONE THAT’S WON TWO OR MORE MATCHES!

The Dragons of Tarkird Prerelease presents players with a special opportunity to open a Prerelease Pack. There are five Prerelease Packs to choose from; each corresponds to a one of the five Dragon Clans in Dragons of Tarkir:

Dromoka – White/Green
Ojutai – Blue/White
Silumgar – Black/Blue
Kolaghan – Red/Black
Atarka – Green/Red

If players would like to be guaranteed a specific Dragons of Tarkir Prerelease Pack you MUST preregister for the event they would like to participate in. Please talk to someone at the store or contact us to preregister.

*Sealed Deck: Each player receives one Dragons of Tarkir Prerelease Pack corresponding to the clan of their choice.

**Two-Headed Giant Sealed Deck: Each TEAM will receive 2 Dragons of Tarkir Prerelease Packs with which to build two 40 card decks.

What Do I Get?

Each Player will receive one Dragons of Tarkir Prerelease Pack that contains:

4 Dragons of Tarkir booster packs
1 Fate Reforged booster pack
1 seeded booster pack
1 Activity insert
1 Clan information card
1 Spindown Life Counter
For this event, players may use the promo card included with the Prerelease Pack in their tournament deck.

What Else Can I Do?

Open Dueling: Open Dueling players each receive 1 Dragons of Tarkir Intro Pack. Open Dueling players use their Intro Pack to play against each other, as well as Prerelease tournament players who are between matches. All players should be encouraged to help teach Open Dueling participants how to play Magic.

Come down, play some cards, check out the new set, and meet some new people!

Announcing ‘Magic Duels: Origins’

Earlier this month, Wizards of the Coast announced the newest edition in the line of Duels of the Planeswalker games – “Magic Duels: Origins.” In this version of the game, players will follow the origin story lines of Gideon, Jace, Liliana, Chandra, and Nissa. In addition to featuring cards from the new Origins set, players can also welcome back Two-Headed Giant as well as new and improved game play. Here’s what else players can expect:

Improved Deck Builder with step-by-step deck construction guidance
First-ever playable Planeswalker cards
Solo Battle mode featuring virtually endless AI opponents
Expanded multiplayer options, including Two-Headed Giant mode
Quest system with new individual and community challenges every week
Limitless Free-to-Play with 100% earnable content
All-new Skill Quest tutorial system

Magic Duels: Origins arrives this July to console on Xbox One, PC via Steam, and iPad tablets, with PlayStation 4 joining later this year.

Visit us at PAX East – This Weekend!

Battleground Games & Hobbies will be at this weekend’s PAX East convention in Boston at the Boston Convention Center Friday, March 6th thru Sunday, March 8th. Please be sure to stop by and visit our amazing booth (#C902) in the Tabletop Hall and try out some fantastic FREE game demo’s! And who knows, perhaps demo participants may even receive a special reward for demoing a game with us.

Plus, this year, we’re featuring all kinds of amazing board games in stock; no one carries as deep an inventory at PAX East as Battleground Games & Hobbies! However, in the event we sell out of an item – no problem! We’ll special order it for you at the show and have it shipped directly to your home. This is a new feature for this year’s show and one we’re really excited about. Please see show staff for details about having a game shipped directly to your house!

Need a little extra cash for the show? Have a lot of cards you wish to trade in? We will be buying Magic the Gathering single cards at this year’s PAX East! Turn those unwanted cards into cash – all weekend long!

Finally, our retail stores will have amended hours during PAX East, as follows:
