What Do I Get?
• TWO booster packs of Theros.
• ONE booster pack of Born of the Gods
• THREE packs for Journey into Nyx (You may purchase up to 2 additional Theros Block booster packs weekly to improve your league deck.)
• A BRAND NEW Battleground Playmat will be given out at the first league meeting.
• DCI registration and number (if needed)
What Happens There?
Joining the Journey into Nyx League, you will be given the opportunity to play with the newest cards in an on-going, four-week league. There will be prizes, and players can complete achievements for fun and excitement.
Theros League matches can be played at ANY time, not just the Monday nights of League meetings. Feel free to play in between rounds of draft, FNM, or whenever else League participants are in the store.
Over the course of the league, you will be able to add more boosters to your league deck.
Each participant will record the results of their first 5 matches per week, for a total of 20 match results over the course of the league. Players are encouraged to play much more than the 5 matches per week so that other players can find games easily. Also, players joining the Jounrey into Nyx League late can play extra matches to catch up!
Players will receive 2 points for a Match Win, and 1 point for a Match Loss or a Draw.
Players may not record results from the same opponent until they have completed a match and recorded results with two other players beforehand.
Example: Calvin can not record results from playing Chase a second time until he’s played and recorded matches with two other people.
Prizes will be awarded on Monday, June 9th, following the conclusion of the league. Prizes will be provided based on league match standings and will be based on overall attendance / participation.
*You may not use any cards from pre-release/release, drafts or FNM events.

ICv2: ‘Star Wars Age of Rebellion: Onslaught of Arda 1’ Coming in July

This week is full of news coming out of Fantasy Flight Games! Reported earlier this week by retail new website ICv2.com, Fantasy Flight Games will release the Star Wars Age of Rebellion RPG: Onslaught at Arda I adventure supplement for its popular roleplaying game in July; meaning you can pick up your copy at Battleground Games & Hobbies in July!
This is the first full-length adventure book for the Star Wars RPG line. The 96-page adventure follows an Imperial raid on a secret Rebel base on Arda I, where a group of new recruits must defend the base long enough for their leaders to uncover clues as to who the traitor is who betrayed the Rebels to the Empire. Then adventurers must follow the traitor and retrieve information before it is passed on to the Imperial Intelligence Service. The book also contains new adversary and vehicle profiles plus mass-combat rules for GMs; and a gazetteer covers the locations in depth.

ICv2: ‘DungeonQuest Revised Edition’ Coming in July

According to retailer news website ICV2.com, Fantasy Flight Games will release the board game DungeonQuest Revised Edition in July.
The fast-paced dungeon exploration game is set in Dragonfire Dungeon. There have been several editions released over the years, but the basic premise of collect treasure, evade traps, and fight monsters while negotiating the catacombs to escape the dungeon is the same.
This new edition has updated and retooled elements of the game to make it even more dangerous, including revamped rules, heroes and monsters. Fantasy Flight also worked with Jakob Bonds, the original designer of the game, to develop the new edition’s combat system, which is a return to the classic edition’s style. There is also a new Torchlight variant that allows players to create a larger, more complex dungeon.
The game is for 1-4 players, ages 14 and up, and plays in 60 minutes.

Battleground’s Represents at Last Weekend’s ‘Weis Schwarz’ Neo Showdown!

This past weekend in Westchester, NY was the Weis Schwarz Neo Showdown, in which the top four earned a trip to the World Championship at Anime Expo July 3rd to the 6th and the winner received free airfare, hotel accommodations, and a badge to Anime Expo.

Battleground Games & Hobbies regulars Sundy Thang, Victor Klatecki, Bryan Magnuson, and Carl Godon not only attended the event in New York, but Sundy Thang and Victor Klatecki both made top eight; with Sundy finishing 3rd place – earning an invitation to the World Championships at Anime Expo – and Victor finishing in eighth place, respectively.

Fantasy Flight Games Announces ‘Dark Heresy 2nd Edition’

Fantasy Flight Games has released more details about the upcoming release of Dark Heresy Second Edition. This updated version of its rolep-laying game set in the grim dystopian future of the Warhammer 40,000 universe is scheduled to release in the third quarter of 2014.
Like the previous edition, this new version casts the players in the role of “acolytes” who serve a mysterious and powerful Inquisitor. The acolytes are tasked with uncovering and investigating plots in a secret war against the Imperium. The Second Edition introduces a new sector of the Imperium, called the “Askellon Sector,” providing an entirely new area of mystery and conspiracy for fans of the game as well as continuing to flesh out the ever-growing Warhammer 40,000 setting.
The 448-page, full-color hardcover rulebook includes complete rules for stand-alone adventures and on-going campaigns, a short introductory story written by Dan Abnett (Guant’s Ghost series), background information about the Askellon Sector and the Imperium of Man, and an introductory adventure, Dark Pursuits.
The new edition was developed based on feedback from the earlier edition’s thousands of fans, including a public beta program run by Fantasy Flight in 2013. Rules changes include new player classes, integrated vehicle combat rules, a streamlined character creation system, and an NPC “threat rating” system to help gamemasters design encounters.
Dark Heresy Second Edition will be supported by the release of a Dark Heresy Second Edition Game Master’s Kit, also scheduled to release in the third quarter with a suggested retail price of $24.95.

Journey into Nyx will be released on Friday, May 2nd and we will have a full line-up of events for you to crack packs, build decks and play Magic at both of our stores! The weekend will kick off with our flagship Sealed Deck style event.
The Battleground Fat Pack Challenge is taking place on Friday night, 5/2/14, at both locations (run as our FNM). These are the ultimate sealed events – where you open packs, build a deck and play with just the contents of a Journey into Nyx Fat Pack!
The concept of a Fat Pack Challenge is pretty simple. Each player will receive a Journey into Nyx Fat Pack with which to build a 40 card deck. Players may use ONLY what is inside of their Fat Pack to construct their decks. No additional land will be provided!
After building your deck players will compete to win prizes like T-Shirts, playmats, deck boxes, Magic promos, and one lucky winner will take home a plaque commemorating their victory.
