Tasty Minstrel Games will release Village Port, the second expansion for the 2012 Kennerspiel des Jahres winner Village in January.
Inka and Markus Brand’s Village is a worker placement and set collection game that has players take control of families in a small historic town. Each player pursues a different career path (a friar, a public official, an adventuring merchant) to find fame and glory and bring honor to their family name. The first expansion, Village Inn, was released in 2013. This new expansion, Village Port, allows players to board their own ship and travel the seven seas, perhaps as missionary or a merchant. It includes life goal cards, so players can pursue a specific career (writer, historian, knight). As an expansion, it requires the base game to play.
The box contains: a sea travel board, 5 wooden ships, 6 cocoa baskets, 6 tea bales, 5 ship tiles, 6 treasure chests, 15 captain cards, 4 setup cards, 12 influence cubes, 7 life goal cards, and 4 new villager cards (for use when combining Village Port and Village Inn expansions). The game is for 2-5 players, ages 12 and up, and plays in 60-90 minutes. MSRP is $34.95.

Z-Man Games has announced plans to release a new edition of Richard James’ card game Lords of Scotland in Spring 2015.
Lords of Scotland is set in the historic era surrounding the wars for Scottish independence. The hand management and strategy game casts players in the roles of Scottish lords, out to lay claim to the vacant throne. Players recruit soldiers, build their army, and recruit clans to face rivals, proving their worth on the battlefield. Players vie to reach forty or more points worth of supporters in order to claim the throne.
Z-Man has not released specific details about the new edition, other than announcing a redesigned look. The previous edition included 99 cards, was for 2- 5 players, ages 12 and up, and played in 25 minutes.
