IELLO Games has announced six upcoming releases: Friday the 13th, Zombie Kidz, The World of Yo-Ho, Eat Me If You Can!, Steam Torpedo, and 8 Masters’ Revenge, according to popular hobby industry news website ICv2.com.

First up, IELLO is partnering with Le Scorpion Masque to release Reiner Knizia’s Friday the 13th card game (picture not available), which has also been previously released as Poisonand Bakers Dozen. Based around symbols of bad luck, players attempt to avoid evil omen cards, or conversely, gather them to pass on to oponents and ruin their hands. The game is for 3-6 players, ages 8 and up, and plays in 30 minutes. The box contains 50 bad luck cards and 3 rule cards.
Next, Zombie Kidz is a cooperative children’s game also to be released in September by IELLO and Le Scorpion Masque. Designed by Annick Lobet (Home Sweet Home, Stratopolis), players take the role of children out to stop the zombies moving into the cemetery near their home, because none of the parents believe them. Players must work together to lock the cemetery gates or eliminate the zombies themselves. There are rule adaptations to make the game more challenging for older players. The game is for 2-4 players, ages 7 and up, and plays in 15 minutes.
IELLO is partnering with Volumique for The World of Yo-Ho, a pirate sea adventure that is a hybrid board game partnered with a digital app. After purchasing the physical map, players download the free app to a smartphone, and use their smartphone as their ship. Then players captain their ship through a fantasy world adventure, where animals are intelligent, and sea monsters and magic exist. Players decide what types of missions they take as they explore: peaceful merchant voyages, battling sea monsters, challenging other players to naval battles, or plundering the seas like a true pirate. The game is for 2-4 players, ages 8 and up, and plays in 40-60 minutes. The game will be launched via a Kickstarter campaign in October.
IELLO and Purple Brain Creations will release an English edition of Jun’ichi Sato’s Eat Me If You Can! Players take the role of storybook characters (Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs), who are suddenly threatened by a very hungry wolf in search of dinner. The simple, family-friendly game uses bluffing and deduction to thwart the wolf. The game is for 3-6 players, ages 6 and up, and plays in 10 minutes. Release is planned for November.
IELLO and Serious Poulp plan to release Steam Torpedo, a two player underwater battle game designed by Ludovic Roudy and Bruno Sautter (8 Masters’ Revenge). Set in 1924, players take control of advanced combat submarines during WWI. Players build their custom subs from hundreds of possibilities and fight their underwater opponent in a battle to destroy the enemy control room or eliminate the entire enemy crew. The game is for two players, age 13 and up, and plays in 30 minutes.
Finally, also from IELLO and Serious Poulp is Roudy and Sautter’s martial arts fight game 8 Masters’ Revenge. Players duel with their fists (represented by two cards that deal various damages), and attempt to deal enough damage to opponents that their health marker is reduced enough to eliminate them. The last player standing wins. The game is for 1-4 players, ages 10 and up, and plays in 30 minutes.

Rio Grande Games has announced two new games for third quarter release: Pressure Cooker and Rattlebones, according to hobby industry news website ICv2.com.
Releasing in September is the dice-building game Rattlebones, designed by Stephen Glenn (Balloon Cup, 1st and Goal). Players build customizable dice (rather than a customizable deck in a deck-building game), by removing and replacing sides on a standard 6-sided die, to build the best set of custom dice to score points.
The game is for 2-4 players, ages 14 and up, and plays in 30-60 minutes.
Releasing in August is a real-time set collecting game Pressure Cooker, designed by Kane Klenko (Mad City). Players take rolls as chefs at the hot new restaurant Tres Yummy on opening night, out to fill their orders the fastest and win the coveted roll of Head Chef. Over three rounds, players collect ingredient tiles to fulfill their orders accurately, thus earning points. Things move more quickly as the rounds progress. The highest point total at the end wins.
The game is for 2-4 players, ages 13 and up, and plays in 30-60 minutes.

Indie Boards and Cards has announced two planned expansions for its deduction card game The Resistance this November, according to ICv2.com. Hidden Agenda and Hostile Intent were funded through a combined Kickstarter program that attracted pledges over $100,000, featuring promos and incentives that will not be included in the final retail version. In addition, both expansions include a number of “modules” that can be added to the base game in any combination.
Hidden Agenda includes three modules. In “Assassin,” the roles from The Resistance: Avalon have been re-themed and renamed for the Resistance Universe. The “Defector” module introduces characters that can switch sides during the game. And “Trapper” adds a spy-catcher mechanic to the game.
Hostile Intent also features three new modules. “Hunter” shifts the focus from targeting the enemy’s facilities to neutralizing their leaders. The “Reverser” can change the results of a mission, turning defeat into victory (or vice versa). “Inquisitor,” meanwhile, introduces an ability from The Resistance: Avalon that allows the Inquisitor player to examine the affiliations of other players.
The Resistance was Indie Boards and Cards’ breakout hit in 2010. It was featured on Geek & Sundry’s TableTop web program, and is currently available in 20 languages. It is a deductive card game with similarities to the classic party game Mafia and plays in about 30 minutes.

IDW Games announced plans last week for a big box strategy board game adaptation of Jonathan Maberry’s prose series, and recent comic adaptation, V-Wars, designed by Rob Daviau, according to hobby industry news website ICv2.com.
IDW launched a comic adaptation of the New York Times best-selling horror series on Free Comic Book Day. Now they have tapped well known game designer Rob Daviau (Risk: Legacy, Betrayal at House on the Hill) to work with V-Wars author and creator Mayberry to bring the V-Wars experience to the tabletop.
The story will pull from and add to the ongoing comic’s universe, with players taking the role of either humans or vampires in a struggle for dominance. Though the game is still in development, release is planned for March 2015.

“[The game] …combines a lot of what I do and what interests me–combat, conflict, narrative, interesting choices, horror, and a fun world to play in,” said Daviau. “I hope to be able to bring all the feeling of the stories and comics into the game. It’s still early but I can already see chances for a lot of subterfuge and shifting goals. Just because you start the game as a human, doesn’t mean you’ll end as one.”
