WizKids Announces ‘DC HeroClix: War of Light’

WizKids has announced it will release DC HeroClix: War of Light–Alternate Color Lantern Packs for its collectible miniatures game HeroClix on September 24th, according to hobby industry news website ICv2.com.
The DC HeroClix: War of Light is part of the summer storyline event organized play, which begins in June. All the SKUs, with the exception of the Sinestro Corps War Scenario Packs which released in May, were OP exclusives, not for retail sale. The new Alternate Color Lantern Packs are a for-sale retail product.
The Lantern Packs come in an assortment case, which has six Lantern Packs total. The three packs are Red and Violet, Orange and Indigo, and Yellow and Blue. Each pack contains two Central Power Battery Resource Object (one of each color), and two sets of corresponding-colored Construct Special Objects.

That’s right folks, join us at Battleground Games & Hobbies on June 21 for FREE RPG Day! What is FREE RPG Day, you ask? Well, FREE RPG Day is a day for you – our loyal customers – to stop on by and try out some new role-playing games and get some free swag; and who doesn’t like swag?
This annual event is especially fantastic for individuals who wish to give gaming – especially role-playing games – a try for the first time.

MTG Conspiracy Release Day Events – TODAY!

TODAY, Battleground will be celebrating Magic’s awesome new release, the multi-player draft set, Conspiracy! Starting at 6:30pm we will begin seating 8-man pods of Conspiracy Draft, which looks to be the most fun casual format since Commander! We plan to continue seating drafts until the early hours of the morning so come down and help us make the Conspiracy launch an all-night event people won’t forget.
A limited amount of older booster packs will be available for those that might like to “spice up” their draft when opportunities arise. Sets will include Modern Masters, Mirrodin, Darksteel, Onslaught, and several more!

How Conspiracy Drafts Will Work:
• Players will be sat in 8-man pods as soon as we have 8 people registered. Seating will be determined randomly.
• Each player will receive 3 Conspiracy booster packs to draft. The draft itself and deck building period will not be timed.
• Once all players have finished building their decks, we will seat the first round by breaking the players up into two different 4-player groups. Each group will play one game together.
• Each event will last for 2 rounds, each round will have a 75 minute time limit.
• At the conclusion of the first round we will take the winner and the last player eliminated (the top 2) from each of the 4 player groups and pair them together in round 2. We will also take the first two players eliminated from each group (bottom 2) and pair them together in round 2.
• If time expires in a round and the top two players have not been determined, the two players with the most life will be considered the “winners.”
• In round two, the group made up the the “winners” will receive 3 booster packs for each player they eliminate from the game. Players that are not in the “winners group” will receive 1 booster pack for each player they eliminate.
• The only way to win booster packs is to eliminate players from the game in round 2.
• Players will be expected to provide any additional product their draft may require.

Z-Man Games Announces ‘Camel Up’ Board Game

Z-Man Games has announced it will be publishing the English edition of popular European board game Camel Up! sometime in 2014, according to popular hobby industry website ICv2.com.
Designed by Steffen Bogen,Camel Up pits two to eight players against each other in trying to determine the show placement of five racing camels. As the dromedaries and Bactrian camels race around the pyramid, players bet on either specific legs of the race, or final placement; the earlier the bet is recorded, the more money can be won. The camels’ progress is determined by dice that come out of the pyramid dice shaker, released one at a time.
The box contains a pyramid, a game board, 5 camels, 5 dice, 40 race betting cards, 8 desert tiles, 15 leg betting tiles, 5 pyramid tiles, 50 Egyptian pound coins, 20 Egyptian pound cards, 1 leg starting player marker.
Unfortunately, a release date is not yet announced. Nevertheless, as soon as this popular game is available, Battleground Games & Hobbies – your board game headquarters – will have it in stock!

‘Smash Up: Monster Smash’ Expansion Announced

According to retailer news website ICv2.com, Alderac Entertainment Group was previewing the upcoming addition to its hit Smash Up card game line at ACD Game Day last week. Smash Up: Monster Smash is planned for September release.
This edition is Halloween themed, and the four factions featured in this iteration are vampires, werewolves, mad scientists, and giant ants. Each 20-card faction deck can be smashed together with another to create a 40-card play deck, for two-player battles. Monster Smash can be combined with other Smash Up games to create interesting faction play, as well as expand the game to four players.
The box will contain the four faction decks, victory tokens, and rules.
AEG Director of Sales & New Market Development Sean Lashgari noted that the upcoming Smash Up: Big Geeky Box is also planned for release around the same time.
