AEG to Release ‘Game of Crowns’ Board Game

Alderac Entertainment Group will release Game of Crowns in June, according to hobby news website ICv2.com.

 

The game is designed by Remo Conzadori, with art by Pascal Quidault.  Players control one of the nine noble houses of the Ruelen Empire, and with the ruler’s death, they are each attempting to gain enough control and influence to claim the crown.  Players can exchange cards and favors through diplomacy, or attack opponents through warfare to gain what they need.

The box contains 90 House cards, 18 Vote cards, 11 Guest cards, 37 Raven tokens, 9 Reference cards, and a round track.  The game is for 4-9 players, ages 14 and up, and plays in 45 minutes.  MSRP is $29.99, which is a great price point.

 

Does this sound familiar? If it does, perhaps that’s because it seems awfully similar in concept to Game of Thrones. Even a similar name.

‘Smash Up: Monster Smash’ Expansion Announced

According to retailer news website ICv2.com, Alderac Entertainment Group was previewing the upcoming addition to its hit Smash Up card game line at ACD Game Day last week.  Smash Up: Monster Smash is planned for September release.

 


 
This edition is Halloween themed, and the four factions featured in this iteration are vampires, werewolves, mad scientists, and giant ants.  Each 20-card faction deck can be smashed together with another to create a 40-card play deck, for two-player battles.  Monster Smash can be combined with other Smash Up games to create interesting faction play, as well as expand the game to four players.


 
The box will contain the four faction decks, victory tokens, and rules.  


 
AEG Director of Sales & New Market Development Sean Lashgari noted that the upcoming Smash Up: Big Geeky Box is also planned for release around the same time.

AEG Announces ‘Thunderstone Advance: Into the Abyss’

Are you a fan of  Thunderstone? Well, if so, you’ll be excited to hear that last week, Alderac Entertainment Group (AGE) announced they will release Thunderstone Advance: Into the Abyss, a new expansion for its popular deck building game, in August.


 
The box contains 381 cards, experience tokens, and a rule sheet.  The game is for 1- 5 players, ages 14 and up, and plays in 45-60 minutes.  


 
The set includes cards from the first six Thunderstone releases as well as some new heroes, spells, items, villagers, and monsters.  There are also alternate uses for experience tokens and fourth level heroes incorporated into this set. As an expansion, it requires a base set, like the recent Thunderstone Advance: Worlds Collide set to play. AEG Announces New Deck Building Game ‘Valley of the Kings’

This June the Alderac Entertainment Group is launching Valley of the Kings, a new deck-building game set in ancient Egypt, according to news outlet ICv2.com.  Designed for 2-4 players, 14 and up, Valley of the Kings is all about acquiring a major supply of artifacts for your tomb.  Players in the game are Egyptian nobles who, as representatives of a culture that believes “you can take it with you,” compete to gather the most items to stock their funerary chambers.

The Valley of Kings card game takes about 45 minutes to play.  The deluxe game box includes 96 artifact cards, four tomb cards, four reference cards, and a rulebook.
